The sense of foreboding that emanates throughout the whole film is present there, and we are instantly thrown into the story of a murderess patient who has disappeared from the mental institution on Shutter Island, with US marshal Teddy Daniels there to investigate.

Plot - In 1954, Federal Marshal Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio) and his new partner Chuck Aule (Ruffalo) travel to Shutter Island to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Ashecliffe Hospital for the criminally insane.

The movie is filled with twists and turns, discoveries that make you rethink your previous deductions, and lots of shady characters.

If you have no idea what kind of film you’ll be watching when you go and see Shutter Island, you’ll be in for a treat.

[i]Shutter Island[/i] is one of the better films you'll probably see this year, it's no masterpiece and it tends to be a the long side of the running time, but it works.

Scorsese's first film after the Oscar-winning [i]The Departed[/i] over three years ago, Shutter Island is his most deliberate foray into a genre picture since [i]Cape Fear[/i] ([size=1]1991[/size]).
