DAY 155: February 4th, 2009.

Ronin

Ronin has some of the best filmed car chases of all time. The best? Maybe, maybe not, people will argue that there are classics that take the title, but Ronin is quite the entertaining film lead by a great cast and a well written script.

Frankenheimer is behind the camera, and he knows how to create intense action sequences. He helmed The French Connection II, Prophecy and The Manchurian Candidate, just to name a few. These films are pretty diverse and show his talent in being able to dabble in different genres. Ronin is nothing new, it's your typical CIA/spy flick, only it's extremely well done.

DeNiro, Reno, Bean are just some of the actors in this film, all get enough screen time (I could have used a bit more of Sean Bean though) and all pull off their roles convincingly.

If you're looking for intense car chases, look no further, here is your film. The story is cliched, yet going into this style of film it can be expected. Relax and enjoy yourself, the film doesn't ask too much from you. Hell, it doesn't even ask you to pay attention to the 'briefcase' because we never see the contents inside. Could it be the same as in Pulp Fiction? Probably not, but whatever.

And excluding The Score (underrated) because I actually liked it, this is probably one of the last "good" DeNiro films....before the "sell-out" years.
