The Simpsons Movie

The Simpsons Movie (rewatched)

As a die-hard Simpsons fan who went to a midnight show on July 27, I couldn't be more happy. I was very happy with this movie for one main reason, it's not above doing crap jokes, as seen as the "PIG CRAP" silo. Then it can hit us with more intelligent jokes, as seen heard by President Arnold Schwarzenegger saying "Look at all those angry eyes and pointy teeth! It's like Christmas at the Kennedy Compound!" It provided a great mix for teenagers and adults alike.

I do have a few gripes about this movie though. I was sorely disappointed in some character development. I know, I'm probably sounding like a need a helmet here, and you're thinking "hello, it has been on TV for 18 seasons" but just hear me out. First off, Spider Pig, was built up way too much in the ads and we see so little of him. Underneath Spider Pig, there was the Irish musician Colin (not Bono's kid) who shares the same passion of the environment (he's not Bono's) as Lisa and they soon fall in love, I really would have liked to see this love more. Finally, we didn't see enough of the great characters that made the show. Where was Duff man, Principle Skinner, Dr. Hibbert, even Comic Book Guy?

I also have a gripe about the quality of the DVD. It took out half the fun of the movie. That half of the fun was looking for stuff in the backround to laugh at. Try to tell me that you can see the sign that says "binge responsible" on the Duff balloon, or even Grandpa reading the 'Oatmeal Monthly' magazine. I'm not sure about the Blu-ray or HD-DVD discs, but for the regular DVD, I was disappointed.

Despite genius writing which makes you go from a concert to blowing up Springfield, I felt it was strained in a few parts, which is the concequence of going eighteen years with only writing 22 minute shows.
