Is Die Hard (1988) overrated?
After seeing it a few times over the years, I still don't get all the hype. I mean the action scenes are good, but I find the story to be an average action movie plot, to be quite honest.

And a whole lot of films have attempted it, many even mimicking Die Hard's template and just adapting it for a different location or setting; Die Hard on a Bus (Speed), Die Hard on a Navy vessel (Under Siege), Die Hard on a plane (Executive Decision) etc.

Die Hard didn't need Muscle Bursting action Stars, it didn't need Bruce Willis running around with a machete down his pants or a Rocket Launcher over his shoulder ( Arnie), all it needed was John McClane.

As a result, when Die Hard came out the year after Lethal Weapon and also happened to be an action movie that took place during Christmas, it proved such a resonant hit with audiences that even now there are people who not only think that it should be counted as a Christmas movie but also think that....
