I feel like the story is mostly pretty straight forward, but I do like the arc of Hanks character, who seems distanced to his family but deeply dedicated to his job; these two things slowly change sides throughout the story, ending in his own death.

Otherwise characters were quite good and so was the acting (I don't like Hanks though and would have preferred someone else on the leading role).

This film is a an absolute joy to watch for what it is, an emotional story shown through brilliant cinematography, individual performances and a fantastic score. As a piece of art, this film is definitely one of the best of the 21st century so far..
