Saw is not a prototypical slasher, it's a bit darker stuff.
Movie Trivia: According to the DVD commentary director James Wan points out that many of the scare scenes in the film were nightmares he and Leigh Whannell had as kids.
Saw, a new hard-core thriller from up and coming director James Wan, follows a familiar road set by earlier films such as David Finchers Se7en, with little deviation into unknown territory.
