Star Trek fans know Mitchell Ryan as an important part of Star Trek canon...He played Kyle Riker (Will Riker's father) on the STTNG episode The Icarus Factor.

I think my first exposure to Ryan was a CBS drama called Executive Suite...solid character actor who never really got the career and recognition he deserved. Also loved him in Liar Liar and Lethal Weapon...RIP

I totally missed the news of his passing.. I loved this guy. I've seen him a couple of times lately in movies, like The Friends of Eddie Coyle and Electra Glide in Blue and while he had a smallish part in the former, he had a big part in the latter and was awesome. Also loved him in Lethal Weapon, Magnum Force, High Plains Drifter, and a lot in a rerun of his appearance as a bullying boyfriend on The Golden Girls. Plus, loads of TV shows. He was a fine actor. Godspeed, Mitchell.
