Walking Tall

This pisses me off.

Walking Tall (1973), starring Joe Don Baker as Buford Pusser was meant as a tribute to an actual law man who made a difference in the world by standing up to organized crime and to criminals. He lost his wife (scumbags shot her) and was shot 8 times and stabbed 7 times in the course of duty.

Now Hollywood wants to make a movie called "Walking Tall" starring The Rock 'loosely' based on the Pusser story. VERY loosely.

Why?

Why not either leave it alone or re-tell it accurately?

To me, it's a stain on Buford Pusser's sacrifices to see Hollywood try to cash in on his story again without even being entirely faithful to it.

This is one of the stupidest ideas I have heard out of Hollywood in a while...

I won't go see it. I agree with your opinion about the disihonouring of a good name as well. There are a lot of stories that have spins put on them for us ignorant movie-goers. It's our short attention sp....HEY LOOK!!! A PUPPY!!!!

Yeah.

I agree with re-packaging for a new crowd. A story like this should be told. Look at all of the versions of the Wyatt Earp story.

I just think it ought to be faithful to the story... especially where lives were lost.

F*CKERS!

I just checked this out a little more… apparently The Rock is supposed to play a character called Chris Vaughn instead of Buford… and thus far, Buford’s daughter, who has read the script and been on the set, likes it…. It’s due out in April 2004...

And this is my BOOMstick!
I just saw this movie, and I absolutely loved it. Recommend it to anyone, the only thing that dissapointed me is that it was too short.

I might just rent it today...how long is it exactly?

Oh yeah, thanks for using the search button.

And this is my BOOMstick!
To be exact, the movie is 1:14 long. So one hour and fourteen minuts. At first I thought that was way too short, but then I realized it's because they didn't really spend time describing each of the characters, they just simply told a tale of a pissed off man against an army of drug dealers. Like my english teacher likes to say, it's "short, sweet and right to the point." Rent it, worth every penny.

Oh and thanks, the search button's my friend.

Saw it when it was in theaters and that's an $8 I'll never see again. Walking Tall is one of the absolute worst movies I've seen released by a Hollywood Studio in a long time.

If you think it was one of the worst you must not have seen that many movies.

Oh trust me, I've seen plenty. This movie expects the audience to feel that its main character is justified, and righteous while he goes around and acts just as corrupt as the bad guys he's hunting down. I mean he's tearing apart personal property, beating men senseless, and gettin laid on the job. What a hero this guy must be.

And this is my BOOMstick!
That's how I'd do it.

Wanna Date? Got Any Money?
Nitz knows the score... Besides, the movie (or so it seemed to me) was all in fun, it was just a pure action flick, it wasnt made to be groundbreaking or to even leave an impact.

meh, i really didnt like Walking Tall, it was too short like Nitzer said and the reasons project mayhem said.

Isnt it really funny how Rocky's trail ended in one day and became sheriff that same day. Also that he would be serving 18 years for destroying the casino. There was alot of witnesses against him and videos of him destroying the casino. Yet he shows a a few scars and hes innocent, but then theres a movie called 12 Angry Men which can prove me wrong.

Heres some interesting opinions about how little it was an action movie

Ok, this was supposed to be an ACTION-movie, no? Well, WHERE THE HELL WAS THE ACTION???
- There was a fistfight at the beginning reminding me of Bud-Spencer-Movies.
- The Rock took a luisville slugger and ripped off some stupid villains and smashed a window.
- A Ford Bronco exploded in front of a Sheriff-Department where THE ROCK just banged a girl he has talked 5 sentences to before.
- Then the villains came in (one by one of course) and shot blindly around, waiting for our hero to relieve them from their senseless life.
- After that, Rock drives to a mill (no, not in the Bronco, that one was blown up, remember?), where his old school buddy is brewing some drugs - alone of course. That's the point where the bat comes out again. Ok, his leg got broken but hey, a little clap on the knee and everything's fine again!
- End credits.

well, y didn't john wayne use his real name??

How could you possibly not like Rundown? My whole family laughed so hard when we saw it, my dad laughed so hard his stomach hurt. Guess some people have no sense of humour.
