Hopefully it doesn't tank further downwards like the original Kickboxer story did.
I've only watched the first Kickboxer with JVD so don't really know too much about the plot lines in any of the following films but i do know that JVDs character and brother don't end up happy ever after.

Did you know that in the 1980s movie PREDATOR the titular character was not originally portrayed by Kevin Peter Hall. It was in fact Jean-Claude Van Damme donning a much more insect inspired full body suit before he left the production which then led to the recasting and redesigning of the famous hunter.

Think of the Boston albums, and how they get a little worse each time. Problem is, Boston used to be good, and the first Kickboxer wasn't, so imagine how bad Kickboxer 5 is.

Loved the original, along with all early JCVD films the boy me was obsessed but it doesn't hold up very well and I'll take a long pass on this, cheers.

Scott Adkins has been cast as the lead villain of the film, Master Durand's brother Cesare, who is a cult leader who kills Sloane's wife and unborn child, leading him to head to Myanmar to unleash his fury on the underground fight circuit. Shooting begins in April.

Actually, according to Rotten Tomatoes...it's gone upwards. Vengeance (41% RT), the 1st film, had been plagued with some on-set issues plus the death of actor Darren Shahlavi (who played Kurt's brother Eric in his final film role) but Retaliation (92% RT) actually is a major improvement and doesn't kill off Kurt Sloane, but puts him in prison to take on a new opponent in The Mountain from Game of Thrones. Now, Armageddon will have him take on Scott Adkins as the main villain.

UFC fighters Jorge Masvidal and Derrick Lewis, alongside former fighter Paige VanZant have also been added to the cast. They're looking to end this trilogy on a high note with the addition of Adkins and the real-life MMA fighters.
