Trying to remember a movie! - British, with a fake AI system.

Hi all,

I'm trying to remember a film from my childhood. In my head it had Milla Jovovich in it, but checking IMDB apparently it doesn't. It is a British movie, or at least the main female protagonist is British, the plot follows three young adults, two men and a woman with short ginger hair, who "invent an AI", the gag being that they are trying to scam the interested investors by having a microphone system linked into the contraption they have built, pretending that it is responding in real time. From what I remember, one of the main party isn't aware that it is a hoax?

Any ideas? It has been doing my head in for ages - I have vague memories of the pretentious main female living in a lighthouse.
