The 80's was the last decade in history and our lifetime that produced some of the most original and fun movies and music.
The 80's was also the decade that produced and revolutionized the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack albums - compilations of original pop and/or rock songs that were written, produced, and/or performed by popular artists and bands of the time specifically for the movies in which they were featured.
Note: Soundtracks were disqualified if they were compilations of strictly older songs (from the 50's or 60's) -such as the Stand By Me soundtrack.

The Dirty Dancing soundtrack is great. I know a bunch of songs from that one, but my favorite is "She's Like The Wind" by Patrick Swayze.
That song was huge, and it is terrific. Patrick Swayze didn't end up pursuing a music career after that song became a phenomenal hit. That still surprises me to this day.

Becoming a recording artist would have served him well, especially during his movie slump in the 90's and until the end of his life.

There's actually TWO Dirty Dancing soundtracks. There's Dirty Dancing and MORE Dirty Dancing.
