I just saw the preview of his latest movie, A Mighty Wind! LOL, this is great! Anyone see this? It'll be starring Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy, Bob Balaban, Catherine O'Hara, John Michael Higgins, Jane Lynch, Parker Posey, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Fred Willard.

It's been too long tho, my head explodes when Michael Moore is lauded for that POS documentary. Guest phucking rocks... my favorites are This is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, and Best of Show.

In case anyone is wondering -- and as is probably obvious -- though Guest (AKA: Mr. Jaime Lee Curtis) is credited as writing all three films mentioned at the end of the last post, in reality they contain vast amounts of (hysterical) improv. You may notice that every last actor mentioned above had a role in Best in Show, as well, simply because good help, improv-wise, is probably hard to find.

This'll be his third mockumentary, directorally (yes, I know that's not a word), I believe. The only not-yet-mentioned flick he's helmed that you may have heard of is Almost Heroes, Chris Farley's last starring vehicle. I'll definitely be seeing this if it's playing anywhere near me (somewhat doubtful).

Check out the trailer.

Chris Guest also directed and co-wrote The Big Picture (1989), his debut, a funny parody of an idealistic screenwriter sacrificing his integrity in Hollywood, starring Kevin Bacon, Teri Hatcher, J.T. Walsh, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Michael McKean, with a film-stealing cameo by Martin Short as an agent ("I don't know you, I don't know your work, but I think you're brilliant...."). It is a regular scripted flick and not one of the improvised projects. A great little movie, it was released on R1 DVD last year with a Guest/Bacon commentary track and deleted scenes.

Of course I'll be seeing A Mighty Wind ASAP. I'm a huge fan of Guest's, from This Is Spinal Tap to his glorious year on "SNL" to his film projects. Almost Heroes was an unfortunate misstep, but otherwise the guy has made some great stuff. I'm especially looking forward to A Mighty Wind because the great Harry Shearer is back with Tappers Guest and McKean - this time in Folk mode, along with all the regular faces from Guffman & Best in Show.
"Film is a disease. When it infects your bloodstream it takes over as the number one hormone. It bosses the enzymes, directs the pineal gland, plays Iago to your psyche. As with heroin, the antidote to Film is more Film." - Frank Capra

OMG, that was great. I don't know why, but there was a certain part where the most dumbfounding line ever kept everyone in a fit of giggles:

WARNING: "A Mighty Wind" spoilers below
That line spoken by the woman about model trains

Does anyone know the name of that actress? I can't recall for the life of me.
