A realization

I had an epiphany the other day at work. I am completely miserable with what I am doing with my life right now. I'm getting old at 21 and I effing hate it. I'm not doing anything with my life right now. I am a waiter at an Applebee's in a **** part of Ohio and I work for my father. I don't mind working for my father, aside from I have the attention span of a goldfish and I sit in front of a computer with really nothing to do but surf mofo, facebook and myspace.

I'm not in school right now because I have no idea what I want to study. I'm not going to go to school and get a bulls*it degree that I'm never going to use. That is a waste of time and money to me.

So I started putting out applications to various trucking companies in Ohio. Only to be denied by all of them. I want to travel right now, get out and live life a little. I figured that trucking is the only way that I can do that and still get paid. At this point, it looks like the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off and my hopes of traveling crushed when an opportunity arises that is infinitly better.

I have a chance to be self-employed at the age of 21 doing what I want to do, drive. My father is selling me his truck for 5,000 (usd) and I have to purchase a trailer which is going to cost me between 3,500 and 4,500 (usd). This is an amazing opportunity for me to get started in life and I'd be a fool not to take it. So, I'm going to.

I don't really know why I started this thread. I don't expect anyone to reply to it. I guess I just wanted to share my excitement with people.

As a former resident of Ohio, I thank you and all of the other waiters at Applebee's. It used to be a sort of "hot spot" where you could find ol' Sexy Celebrity (what a wild life I lead). I was there at 21 years of age... they NEVER carded me whenever I ordered alcoholic drinks (I was of age, but I hate getting carded, nonetheless, it's a nuisance).

Trucking sounds like a good field to go into. I hear you can make a lot of money and you do get to travel!

Trucking is very lucrative. I'm looking at going from waiting on tables and barely getting by to being able to make 6 figures a year.

I'm not from Ohio, but I lived in Columbus from '03 to '06.

Me neither, I was born in Colorado and moved to Cleveland when I was wee little. Been here ever since. I live closer to Akron now though. Akron is a hell-hole
