Banned from Hollywood.
I'm surprised Mad Max 2 aka The Road Warrior isn't on there somewhere.

yeah me too..i mean why put back to the future 3 there , and even that terrible addams family sequel?

seems the empire staff have something against Australian cinema or Australians for that matter...(yes peter jackson i am reffering to you)..no LOTRs??? ..but then i guess most consider it a "whole" movie..i know i do.

I've never been a fan of Aliens. I don't know why.

I ve never been a fan of the franchise as a whole, but the first movie is definitely one of my favorites of all time..at least in the sci-fi genre...as for Aliens i definitely consider it a step down from the first one, but all in all it's a really good movie...

I guess i would have prefered it to be as dark as the first one.

I love the original it's one of my all time favourite films.

But the second one is an entirely different film so maybe it's not right to compare them. But taken as a one off film Aliens doesn't do anything for me. I think I actually perfer the third in the series over it (if we're going to compare of course ).

Why are you referring to Peter Jackson when talking about Australians?

I'm surprised that Lethal Weapon 2 is on that list. A lot of sequels have no business being there. Gremlins 2 has no business being there, Scream 2 has no business being there, Toy Story 2 has no business being there, Temple Of Doom has no business being there, Superman 2 has no business being there and Halloween 3 certainly has no business being there. I'm thinking the editor was in the mood for a sick joke when he allowed that to be there.

So-so list, not terrible by any means but not great. Which is often the case, eh? Happy with the positions of both Aliens and The Dark Knight
Though, I would put The Dark Knight above Aliens

Shrek, Infernal Affairs, Scream, Temple of Doom are least deserving on there, some i've not seen though. Shame they've used several titles from the same franchises

I can't speak for its sequel because I never cared to watch it, but I didn't like Alien at all. Otherwise, there are quite a few entries on the list that I also don't agree with, but it provided an interesting read--not a definite compilation of the fifty greatest sequels ever.

Glad to see I'm not the only film fan who doesn't think that Alien (and it's sequels) are that good. I always thought that Alien 3 was the best one, though the last time I saw Alien I liked it a lot more than I did previously. I'd have to watch Alien 3 again before deciding whether I still thought it was better. Whatever the case, I don't really like any of them and I like Aliens least of all.

That said, how can you not like Halloween III?!?!

&feature=related

That alone makes it worth seeing.

Hey, hey, hey, Toy Story 2 and Temple of Doom deserved mentions. Of course, you obviously disagree, but go ahead and tell me why you disagree.

And UF - yeah. The Road Warrior was quite a disappointment for me. I'd still put it on the list over some of these selections, though.

Hey, hey, hey, Toy Story 2 and Temple of Doom deserved mentions. Of course, you obviously disagree, but go ahead and tell me why you disagree.

I would indeed have to kindly disagree with you on those choices, sir.

Ok, maybe I was a little harsh on Temple Of Doom as it is a pretty fun film, but there are certain infamous sequences that make me question Spielberg's intent and as a result, I feel compelled to put it down a bit because Spielberg hasn't offered any explanation as to why such scenes were featured in the film. But yeah, again I might have been a tad bit harsh on it.

Toy Story 2 on the other hand...man, sorry but that was pretty overrated for me, which is a shame because you've seen my Top 100 and know how much love I have for the original. I mean, the problem with these sequels is you can't help but compare them to their predecessors, and with Toy Story 2 it just seems to reinforce the fact that the original was.

The fact that Joss Whedon doesn't script it means that the film automatically loses the sharp wit, and the characters, even though they are pretty established by the 2nd one, don't have that same warmth to them. Also, the 2nd one is just a bit TOO lighthearted and kid friendly for me, whereas the 2nd dealt with some fairly adultish and darky themes, which is always a plus for me.

Just to add, even though there are few new fresh characters like the Jessy and I forget the bullseye character or whatever, they don't hold a candle to the original interactions between Potato Head, Wood and the deluded Buzz Light.

But yeah, that's not to say Toy Story 2 is bad by any means. It's a decent sequel I suppose, but it's like 2 stars away from surpassing the originality and strong character arcs of the original. But then again, this IS a list of the greatest sequels ever so they needed a bit of filler.

That said, how can you not like Halloween III?!?!
I love this movie... though I'm surprised it's on the list. It's totally left of canon and it gets almost no love outside of genre lovers.

Batman Begins would be the remake. More accurately a reboot. But The Dark Knight is unquestionably the sequel to Batman Begins.

Batman Begins wasn't filmed before. Joker, Two-Face etc. was. But, yeah, maybe a sequel to Batman Begins =)
