SONG TOURNAMENT 27

Tools

ROUND 1, PART 3

I wanted to bang Taylor Dayne when that song came out. Some things never change.
I'm not pulling your leg. Back in like, 1990, that dude from MTV, Adam something...with the teased hair,...he mentioned Dane being a GUY before the transition...swear to God. Since then, my internet searches have produced NOTHING. I've been curious since 1990, about Taylor Dane, maybe once bing a guy, before an operation....go figure!

I'd still pound the sh%t out of it, even if it had a penis at one point. Ask me if I care. I don;t. Cricket, we oughtta go drinking one night, maybe we'll land a few trannies and videotape it. Ya feel me?!

Whom picked "Love Walks in"? I wanna give you a back rub and a happy ending, you sloppy bastard!

Got a box of magnums. Let's take it slow.
oOoOoOoOo yes YES, the bar with you and cricket

ROUND 1,PART 3

1. Hercules and Love Affair - Blind vs. Genesis - I Can't Dance

2. William Shatner - Common People vs. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - S.O.B.
I don't think I've heard S.O.B. before. Loved it. Bought the MP3 just now.

3. Motorpsycho - On a Plate vs. Michael Jackson - Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'

4. Taylor Dayne - Tell It To My Heart vs. Kojo Funds ft. Raye - Check

5. Richard Dawson - Scientist vs. The Cure - A Forest

6. Three Shades of Dirty - Needing Ground vs. United States of Electronica - Open Your Eyes

7. Ciara featuring Justin Timberlake - Love Sex Magic vs. Bjork - Play Dead

8. Van Halen - Love Walks In vs. Jim Carrey - Cold Dead Hand

ROUND 1, PART 2

1. Gerry Rafferty - Night Owl vs. Van Morrison - Caravan

Gerry Rafferty - Night Owl

While the vocals for Van Morrison had an edge, the instrumentals for Gerry Rafferty were much more intricate and melded together so well stealing my vote.

2. Bob Seger - Come to Poppa vs. Raydio-You Can't Change That

Bob Seger - Come to Poppa

I didn't like either of these, but Bob Seger was less annoying.

3. Ariel Pink - Bubblegum Dreams vs. Vitamin C - Graduation (Friends Forever)

Ariel Pink - Bubblegum Dreams

This was somewhat interesting, but Vitamine C I didn't like.

4. Ghostpoet - That Ring Down the Drain Kind of Feeling vs. The Lapse - H'a chi

Ghostpoet - That Ring Down the Drain Kind of Feeling

I'm glad some people like The Lapse, but I'm going to vote against myself and give my vote to Ghostpoet because I liked them more than most of the songs here so far. They were really neat, and I don't really care if my songs win or not.

5. Vince Staples - Rain Come Down vs. Robbie Williams - Come Undone

Robbie Williams - Come Undone

It was okaish. I didn't like the other one.

6. Body Rockers - I like the way you move vs. Van Halen - Dance the Night Away

Body Rockers - I like the way you move

This was close. I wasn't a fan of either really.

7. Denise Lasalle - Lick It Before You Stick It vs. Mikromusic - Tak mi sie nie chce

Mikromusic - Tak mi sie nie chce

I have to say that I found Lick it Before You Stick it repulsive, the lyrics, but also the music was boring. Mikromusic was actually very interesting.

8. Paul Revere & The Raiders-Cherokee People vs. Odyssey - Going Back to My Roots

Paul Revere & The Raiders-Cherokee People

Funny how their themes were similar, but I liked Cherokee People, while the other was a bit boring.

ROUND 1, PART 2

1. Gerry Rafferty - Night Owl vs. Van Morrison - Caravan
(Difficult choice. Listened to both twice before making up my mind. I really like "Caravan," but I kinda love "Night Owl" -- although I could've done without the flute. Don't think I've ever head the song before, yet it makes me feel nostalgic nonetheless.)

2. Bob Seger - Come to Poppa vs. Raydio-You Can't Change That
(Bob Segar is one of my mom's favorite artists, so that's always made him seem uncool to me. I don't mind some of his stuff, but I thought this song was just okay. I liked the other song a lot.)

3. Ariel Pink - Bubblegum Dreams vs. Vitamin C - Graduation (Friends Forever)
(Not a fan of either song. "Bubblegum Dreams" is borderline irritating, but "Graduation" is bad enough to inspire millions of drop-outs. Am I a monster for hoping that a school shooter would show up during that obnoxious video?)

4. Ghostpoet - That Ring Down the Drain Kind of Feeling vs. The Lapse - H'a chi
(I like how Zotis is so committed to the Art-House Mafia that even his song nominations aren't in English.)

5. Vince Staples - Rain Come Down vs. Robbie Williams - Come Undone
(Hated the first, disliked the second.)

6. Body Rockers - I like the way you move vs. Van Halen - Dance the Night Away
(Joel called "I Like the Way You Move" sludgy and creepy, which I totally agree with, but I think that quality is what appeals to me most about the song. I'll probably listen to this song the next time I'm beating off outside some chick's bedroom window. It took until the chorus to realize I've heard it before, probably in a commercial or TV show or something. I like Van Halen, but they've never been a favorite, and I've heard that particular song countless times.)

7. Denise Lasalle - Lick It Before You Stick It vs. Mikromusic - Tak mi sie nie chce
(The second song was . . . interesting, but it seemed to go on forever even though it's relatively short. "Lick It Before You Stick It" is the best song I've ever heard about postage stamps.)

8. Paul Revere & The Raiders-Cherokee People vs. Odyssey - Going Back to My Roots
(Very good match-up. Dig both songs. The latter is quite groovy, but I slightly prefer the novelty of "Cherokee People.")

ROUND 1, PART 3

1. Hercules and Love Affair - Blind vs. Genesis - I Can't Dance

Hercules and Love Affair - Blind

Hercules and Love Affair was one of the most interesting songs so far. I loved the vocals and electronic music. It had a lot of character and intricacy. Sorry Genesis, but you stood no chance.

2. William Shatner - Common People vs. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - S.O.B.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - S.O.B.

This wins by default because William Shatner was extremely boring.

3. Motorpsycho - On a Plate vs. Michael Jackson - Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'

Michael Jackson - Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'

I was expecting to hate Michael Jackson because I've never liked him in the past. This song really surprised me though. I actually liked it. My mind is kinda blown. Motorpsycho was only somewhat interesting.

4. Taylor Dayne - Tell It To My Heart vs. Kojo Funds ft. Raye - Check

Taylor Dayne - Tell It To My Heart

I didn't like this song, but it wins because Kojo Funds was pure cancer.

5. Richard Dawson - Scientist vs. The Cure - A Forest

Richard Dawson - Scientist

I've never been a fan of The Cure, but A Forest was surprisingly good. Yet, Richard Dawson blew it out of the water. The abrasive guitar was right up my alley, and I loved the children's choir.

6. Three Shades of Dirty - Needing Ground vs. United States of Electronica - Open Your Eyes

Three Shades of Dirty - Needing Ground

Lord have mercy, United States of Electronica was horrible. That autotune was repulsive.

7. Ciara featuring Justin Timberlake - Love Sex Magic vs. Bjork - Play Dead

Bjork - Play Dead

Ciara didn't stand a chance. They were just out-classed. Bjork had more passion and technique. Ciara was a bit repetative and simple by comparison.

8. Van Halen - Love Walks In vs. Jim Carrey - Cold Dead Hand

Van Halen - Love Walks In

Although Jim Carey was funny the music was boring. I didn't like Van Halen much, and the video was sleezy, but it was better music.

I have to say that I found "Lick it Before You Stick It" repulsive
What's repulsive about mailing a letter?
The post office is socialism. I want Fed Ex!

Am I a monster for hoping that a school shooter would show up during that obnoxious video?
I think that would have enhanced the video. I'm with you on that. Vitamin C was horrible.

I like how Zotis is so committed to the Art-House Mafia that even his song nominations aren't in English.
Awe, thanks Spaulding. I actually do listen to quite a bit of non-english music.

I won't dance. Don't ask me...
Part 1, Round 3
Hercules and Love Affair - Blind vs. Genesis - I Can't Dance
Love Genesis, but this purticular song isnt my fav.
2. William Shatner - Common People vs. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - S.O.B.

Timberlake vs. Bjork? It can't be so easy:P
