No big shock for The Incredible Hulk, which opened with $21 million on Friday. This figures to be a pretty front-loaded film, but it should still find its way into the $55-60 million range.

The big shock is that M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening took in nearly $13 million. Night's films are also generally front-loaded, and the horror subject matter on Friday the 13th probably had a bit to do with it, too. I'd expect that Friday number will end up comprising a bit over 40% of its weekend total, which means Night's looking at a surprising $30+ million opening.

It doesn't figure to have much in the way of legs, of course, though I still think audience reaction may end up being a bit better than critical reaction. This opening number could stop it from being an unmitigated bomb, however, depending on how fast it falls.

It'll be pretty intriguing to see how The Incredible Hulk holds up, too. It's got nothing in direct competition coming up next weekend, and has had solid reviews and word-of-mouth. It probably won't be a smash (pun intended) hit, but it looks to be a another success for Marvel Studios.
