Movies that are un-showable on T.V

Tools

What movies do you think just can't be shown on t.v - due to content.

One that i would think is The Big Lebowski but it actually is on tv.
It's pretty hillarious too so much censoring.

The 40 Year Old Virgin would be way too much for tv. Team America World Police would be pretty hillarious to be censored.

Comedy Central shows south park movie uncensored.

The Dreamers is the first one that came my mind.

Team America World Police has been shown on Comedy Central on late night Friday and Saturday when they don't have to censor it.

Straw Dogs (Peckinpah, 1971) could never be shown without severe censoring in my opinion.

I watched a TV version of Pulp Fiction (Tarantino, 1994) and the dubbing made the film almost unwatchable. It was that bad.

Hello Salem, my name's Winifred. What's yours
i can easily see 40 year old virgin or team america on tv, a little after 10pm maybe but its do-able

hardcore films like I Spit On Your Grave or Cannibal Holocaust i doubt will ever be shown on tv

I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
I think anything that can be shown in the cinema can be shown on tv. I've seen Pulp Fiction on tv and don't recall any cuts or dubbing. Oldboy and Kill Bill Vol. 1 have been on tv as well...perhaps there were edits I didn't notice, but don't they have to say that it is edited for tv if they do that?

Can't think what is so bad about The Big Lebowski you think it wouldn't be shown.

I remember when I was about 13 at school we had to watch Witness as part of some work about the Amish people and if you were lucky you got the video version, with blood, and if not you got the edited for tv version, without.

Are films always censored on American TV? I'm English and I watch hundreds of films on TV and from what I've seen they are rarely edited specifically for TV.

And 'undercoverlover' said that 'I Spit on your Grave' will probably never be shown on TV but it was shown on 'Zone Horror' a few weeks ago I'm sure and 'Fenwick' said Straw Dogs could never be shown on TV without severe censoring but I saw the full uncut version on T.V. (on the FX channel I think) so is it just American TV that gets all this censoring?

28 days...6 hours...42 minutes...12 seconds
I remember seeing Goodfellas on TBS....Joe Pesci was hardly in it.

Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, Dead-Alive, Evil Dead film, any Takishi Miike film.

Pretty much.
In Canada we get both Canadian and American stations but I generally won't watch any R-rated movies on the US channels.
Our channels won't cut much out with nudity and swearing but I have seen some instances where the 'F'-word is used freely but can be edited depending on context.
Once someone said 'F' it a movie about a dozen different times but it got censored out when he said 'mother f-er'.
The Canadian station Global even plays soft-core porn on Friday nights.

Sorry, yeah, you're right.
It's CityTV that plays the soft-core porn.

(the stations keep switching ownership on me and I forget which channel is what half the time)

Showcase (Canadian station) will play just about anything. Gummo was even played on it with no censoring.
Yep. That channel will play anything.
