This is apparently old news, and obviously correlated to the current pandemic closing local theatres, but evidently Drive in theatres have seen a huge increase in attendance during the lockdown. The Benifits are obvious, as you don’t have the normal risk of being near possible carriers.
As someone who never had the experience, this actually excites me a little. For one, I’d be able to actually see movies on the big screen. Second, I’d finally experience what it’s like.
I’ve read that Pa and NY have chosen to keep their collective drive ins closed (unless this changed recently, the article I found is a month ago, but was recently reported on the news the other day about the recent increase)
This also gives many films that are in limbo a chance to be screeend and maybe save the block buster season (summer time).
