I am half agony, half hope.
I haven't seen any of these, so I don't care which wins. It'll be fun to watch and then discuss.

I didn't even know about Death Proof, until I saw this thread. So I looked it up on IMDB.com, and watched some trailers . . .

Planet Terror, and Death Proof. Only at the Grindhouse.

I'm going to have to pass on this one!
You're going to pass on democracy? Fair enough, comrade.

Now, if you want to watch Snake Plissken . . .

Let me know!
Heck, I'd like to watch Mira Sorvino from morning to night but that ain't gonna happen within the confines of Movie Club.

Although....

Hmmm, well, let's see . . . Nope, still don't want to watch it!
It has a cool Robert Frost poem in it:

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Welcome to the human race...
How did Death Proof get released on DVD in these parts without my knowledge?

Hmmm...

Apropos to nothing: When I was 8 I thought that poem was about Santa Claus. These days it seems more like it's about a character from an outtake on Nick Cave's Murder Ballads.

Welcome to the human race...
Probably the same way that Planet Terror did?!?
Nah, Planet Terror didn't even get released in cinemas, let alone onto DVD.

I'll have to pay closer attention next time I go to the shops...

I never would have made the Santa connection but I like it. I've actually not, historically, been a Frost fan. It's only been in the past decade or so that I've come to appreciate his comparative simplicity of language (and realized the depth of thought behind some of it).

As for Nick Cave, not much familiar with his work... kinda missed the boat there. I'm listening to the previews of Murder Ballads on Amazon now

Not that it matters now, but I too voted for Death Proof. There's a lot of things I want to say about that movie.

Yeah, i voted for Death Proof as well, a lot to discuss. Not even sure how i feel about it, if i'm fed of Tarantino or it's a plain mediocre film.

Ok folks, Death Proof wins by a veritable landslide!

I'll put the discussion thread up next Sunday (the 10th) by which time most of us will have been able to grab and watch the movie.

I am having a nervous breakdance
Oui.

They had temporarily escaped the factories, the warehouses, the slaughterhouses, the car washes - they'd be back in captivity the next day but
now they were out - they were wild with freedom. They weren't thinking about the slavery of poverty. Or the slavery of welfare and food stamps. The rest of us would be all right until the poor learned how to make atom bombs in their basements.
