my car was totaled today

Tools

My BMW 328i 2001 was totaled about 4 hours ago when i turned left on a green light. my car started slipping in the rain and an oncoming car hit me. Since im supposed to yield, cop said it was my fault. Witnesses behind her said it was green and thus i could not have had a green left arrow.

I'm not injured and the other driver is not injured either, but my car is gone and i believe hers is fixable.

Insurance will cover my car which is worth only around 11k today. i put alot of money into that car and I'm pretty sure im going to go from driving a bmw to a used honda. Not hatin' im just sayin.

life sucks today.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Car accidents are one of life's biggest pains, but be happy you're not in any physical pain. Was this an intersection where there is a left turn arrow and when it goes off, you're still allowed to turn if there's a green light and no traffic? I'm just trying to visualize what happened and the seeming contradiction between you and the other "witnesses". I hate it whenever I start hydroplaning.

Sorry to hear that EQ, I'm glad you're alright though.

I've totaled two cars in my life, both early '90s Toyota Tercels. The first was an accident on the highway in the mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, late one snowy night. I rolled about ten times before coming to rest upside down on the side of the road. Somehow I did not have a scratch. I was wearing my belt, obviously, or I surely would have been killed. The second I went through an intersection in Wilkes-Barre, PA one summer day. It was a neighborhood I was unfamiliar with and a large, full tree branch had grown over the stop sign that I never saw. Though I have no memory of the crash itself, the aftermath or the ambulance and only "woke up" while I was walking down the hallway of the hospital leaning on a nurse, again I was lucky to come out without a single scratch. Again, obviously wearing my seatbelt.

I've had a couple other minor accidents, but nothing life-threatening (staying away from northern PA has seemed to help). But as big a hassle and sometimes even a financial burden totaling a car can be, walking away unhurt (and not having anybody else hurt) is truly the only important thing. The rest is only inconvenience and property.

So sorry to hear about the loss of the car, but extremely happy you were able to walk away from it. Have a drink. Hug a friend. Get some sleep.

Will your system be alright, when you dream of home tonight?
I have never totalled a car (cause I don't drive.) I however have broken a car's tailight by running into it with my bike Not the brightest move.

Glad you are OK! All that for Chinatown, too!

At least the film is good...

That sucks man. I totaled my last car over someone else being stupid. I know how it feels, aside mine was a Suzuki Aerio and yours is a BMW, so, maybe I don't. I don't know

Yeah, I certainly would have felt much worse had I totaled a car while driving to see The Love Guru. At least you weren't going to see that. Hope everything turns out okay. Drink your beer and pig out on food.

You ready? You look ready.
Holden said it best. You walked away, and that's the most important part.

Really tough break man. Sorry to hear about it. Hope the financial aspect isn't too much of a burden, but glad to hear you came out of it alright. Didn't lose anything that can't be eventually replaced, at least.
