Cloris Leachman

She wins an Oscar, but even right after, she's relegated to bad TV movies?

Forget the Oscar... She was a great actress. Never got great roles, never got credit. If she didn't win that Oscar, she might have been unemployed, but her job in "The Last Picture Show" was too good for even the academy to ignore.


I'd also add she was married to Hollywood impressario George Englund. Maybe someone in here knows more about her...

I agree that Leachman never had the career she deserved but the woman had a solid career including some very good TV movies. In addition to her Oscar, the actress also earned eight Emmys, which I think she would have earned even if she hadn't won an Oscar. If the truth be told, if it had been up to me, that Oscar would have gone to Ellen Burstyn for the same movie, but I digress. Leachman was blessed with the kind of career millions of actor would have loved to have had. Leachman had a career that spanned close to eight decades, there aren't a lot of actors who can say that.
