Post-Oscars Perspective (2019)

Can't say I blame Spike, though - having that happen to him twice thirty years apart really drives home that it's all kinda bullsh*t and nothing's really changed as the majority chooses to favour the more easily-digestible and conventional racism narrative than the more provocative and inventive piece. Even though you could also make the criticism that BlacKkKlansman pulls some of its punches for the sake of providing some semblance of a conventional anti-racism narrative that's almost a buddy comedy aimed at taking down stereotypically idiotic racists (to say nothing of whether or not it genuinely interrogates the police's role in interrogating said racism beyond a subplot singling out a single racist cop), it's still doing more heavy lifting than Green Book in that regard.

The truth of the matter is Green Book was just a better movie, case closed.
