I like to think Rock and Jackson can try and resurrect this franchise in a respectable way, but I still have my doubts...

Saw it earlier. Calling it "buddy cop" is a bit of a stretch since it really is mostly about Rock's character and his partner is kind of an afterthought rather than the tug-of-war dynamic you'd expect between, say, Murtaugh and Riggs. Certainly interesting to try to parse out its commentary on police corruption and whether or not it's actually pulled off well, but as an actual Saw movie it's kind of underwhelming.
I really just want you all angry and confused the whole time.
