Been on a Mark Kermode binge...

Welcome to the human race...
Saw it earlier. Calling it "buddy cop" is a bit of a stretch since it really is mostly about Rock's character and his partner is kind of an afterthought rather than the tug-of-war dynamic you'd expect between, say, Murtaugh and Riggs. Certainly interesting to try to parse out its commentary on police corruption and whether or not it's actually pulled off well, but as an actual Saw movie it's kind of underwhelming.

Saw it today. I was surprised by how much I liked it. I'm probably in the minority on this, but I actually like it better than the original Saw. I would rate Spiral a
