What do you think is the most expensive movie ever made?

It’s said to be Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, but I think no one really knows.

Yeah $379m but you have to also add marketing onto that as well... I think the numbers reckon it cost $410m altogether.

The Hobbit Trilogy filmed back to back cost $623m. With marketing you could ping that to $660m.

I think they were filmed literally back to back... whereas Hobbit, the "back-to-back" thing meant at the same time.

LOTR did the same thing.
They were filming stuff for Two Towers and Return Of The King before they'd even wrapped on Fellowship.

Actually, thinking about it... I think the last scene actually filmed for the entire LOTR trilogy, was Serkis doing reaction shots for Gollum... for scenes in The Two Towers.
