"My name is Psycho but you can call me Stuart."
To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing in regards to a certain train-wreck I encountered in the wee hours of this morning, around the 2 am hour. Frankly, I found this incident to be rather confusing and a waste of my time. However, I realise that there are those who have been injured in this accident, and so I hope that my words may lend favour to them and the cause for which they were fighting for.

In short, the episode of House. M.D. I watched sucked.

I am sorry to say it. I truly am. I love the show. I have followed faithfully since you hooked me with the Season 2 finale, "No Reason." I watched a few episodes before this, but nothing grabbed my attention quite like the soul-searching, gut-wrenching, oh-my-goodness of this episode. I was captured and reeled in, gutted and preserved, slapped on a wooden plaque and hung proudly over your fireplace. There was no turning back.

I faithfully went out and purchased the entire series.

You are now making me reconsider my current position and purchase.

Please. Tell me. Where did my interesting dialogue go? Where did my interesting characters go? Where did your interest go when it comes to writing and directing and all of the little things that go into making this show as spectacular as it has been in the past?

I don't think I can blame the actors; they seem to be there with you for the most part. But what are you giving them to spout off? I don't get it! I seriously don't. You've taken some characters and contorted them and twisted them to the point where some of our favourites are now as annoying as...*insert your own metaphor here* Oh, wait. Can you do metaphors anymore?

Where is my angst from Dr. House? If you're attempting to make him change, then show it to me. Don't show me him spouting off euphemisms to a CIA doctor and then have him acting all nervous like a thirteen year old at the end of the episode. What happened here? Our dear little Housey is growing up? Please. I didn't follow the character in this. I didn't. Usually, I can understand the rationale behind House's actions, but here, he's confusing me more than making sense. I don't know if you have a clear idea of where your character is going anymore. And you had it set up so beautifully at the end of Season 3, too. Change. Let's deal with change. Let's see where we can take him. Let's go for it.

Not 'let's eff up every episode from here on out and see who notices'.

What the heck did you do to poor Foreman? I've gone from liking the guy to hating the guy to feeling sorry for the guy to understanding the guy to hating the guy and then pitying the guy and liking the guy because he's like House and then he's not like House but wait maybe he is but he's not and now we all are supposed to hate and like and pity him at the same time.

Confused, yet?

So are we.

Cameron. Okay, aside from the hair (which is Ms. Morrison's natural color, so I won't blame her for the change), what in the world are you doing here? Why is she so smug now? What makes her so smart all of a sudden? And why do we see her at the oddest of times and circumstances when she really doesn't have a place in the episode? I'm so confused! She's there; she's not. I don't get it.

And are we honestly supposed to believe that she still has a thing for House as Chase suggests? Why in the world is Chase still worried? Dear Lord, how long ago was this House/Cameron thing attempted? Oh! Way back then when she wasn't half as annoying as she is now that she knows everything and has dealt with death and has learned to not follow the rules all the time and has been high and had casual sex with Chase and hurt his feelings and had sex with him again but oh-my-gosh I can't commit to you because that's scary but you're cute so let's have sex again because it's Tuesday and then it's okay that we're together now.

Confused?

Yeah, so are we.

Chase I can't complain about. I never see him. He has had at least one good moment -- his first introduction. I think that's about it for memorable moments.

Wilson. Great -- in the first episode or two. Now we see him long enough to make the House/Wilson relationshippers happy when they get their innuendo moment, and that's about it. He appears. He's gone. Oh, wait! No! There he is! And then...well, that's all we need now. I guess he's gone again. Wilson was brilliant in the first episode of Season 4. Brilliant! Witty! Smart! Dare I say it? -- Sexy! Where did he go? Did you kill him? Did he die and was replaced by this thing that sort of looks like our dear boy?

What happened to Cuddy? I've even heard that the people who liked her find her annoying now. Of course, I can't comment much about her this season. Because I don't feel like I've seen her in this season. Her last line of the episode I watched this morning was the most memorable, but at the moment, I'm having problems remembering it. So does that give you a clue as to what's going on with this character?

Frankly, I'm worried. I'm frightened. A CIA plot line sounds like something out of a fanfiction, and to be honest with you, there's probably a CIA fanfic that's a lot more interesting than this morning's snooze-fest of an episode was. You're scaring me. You are. I'm being serious. Otherwise, I wouldn't be this vocal about it. I was giving this Season a chance. I was hoping. I was praying. You had some great set-ups here -- some really good stuff.

And you're killing it.

Should I give thought to giving away my DVD set? I almost dread watching the next episode--I'm thinking you're not only acting out the murder, you're also digging the grave at the same time.

Please please please prove me wrong. Prove me to be an arrogant ass who is bellowing this loud and lengthy review for no reason except to hear her own head roar. Make me be like House -- make me say I was wrong and move on to the next theory. Make me eat my humble pie and go on about my business like this never happened so we can come to a final diagnosis.

I only pray there's a cure.

Or maybe it finally really is lupus.

Thanks,
A Devoted House M.D. Fan, Dash.

House - In the recent past I bought the complete series of House after catching a few rerun episodes on TV...from start to end I have diligently been making my way through each season.

I'm not sure where you are with House, but I think it's terminal. I hope not, as you've already shelled out and bought the thing.

I dropped House somewhere in season 7, I think, but I'd been watching it 'in the background' for a couple of seasons and could probably watch a good number of those episodes without realising I've seen them before. It doesn't help that it's so formulaic, because it makes it so easy to watch it with one eye, but the truth is, IMO, is that by then there wasn't enough of interest to keep me hanging around. Much like Criminal Minds, tbh, but I'm still watching that somehow.

What am I watching? Well, there's Neighbours, of course, and I, Claudius, Elementary, Person Of Interest (Which I was tempted to drop, but I think I'll go with Season 2, at least to start with. It's amazing what the sight of Amy Acker can do for a guy. ), Criminal Minds, Grimm (which is also on the bubble with me), Arne Dahl, Friday Night Lights (which I think is just great), Oliver Stone's Untold History Of The United States, HIGNFY, Dallas (season 2 finale tonight. Can't wait!), White Collar, Suits, Dexter (I just don't know about this anymore), 2 Broke Girls, HIMYM, Bones, Castle.

Banshee - Almost stopped watching about 5 or 6 times, but as I'd recorded it, I kept on. Still not sure if I'll make it to the end of episode 2 or not, but I'm going to give it a go.

Vicious - ITV Comedy? Not usually a good idea and I'm not sure about this, either, but I quite liked the first episode. Sadly, that's not the same as it being funny. Only one line that really made me lol

Mad Men - I know this is upto about episode 5 or 6 atm, but I'm saving them, so I've not started yet.

Hannibal - This starts tonight. No idea about it as I've not even watched the ads for it.

I still have the series finale of Fringe to watch, as I'm loathe to finish that programme. It really picked up towards the end of season 5 and I don't want it to be over, if they manage that, or ruined if it finishes badly.

Yes, I think you may very well be right, honeykid. Hopefully for the remainder of the episodes the writers administered cobalamin to reinvigorate House. As it was with you my interest began to wane the further I moved into the seasons of Criminal Minds, particularly around season 6. The best were the first seasons with Mandy Patinkin, too bad he was so disenchanted with the story-lines of Criminal Minds and declined to renew his contract.

I'd be interested to see what your thoughts are on Hannibal.

I love I, Claudius and I find I am becoming very fond of Elementary; adored Jonny Lee Miller in Eli Stone.

House M.D. is too formulaic, up to the point where it gets predictable. Dr. House's oneliners aren't enough to save the show's quality, much like Jeremy Piven's antics weren't enough to ultimately save Entourage from mediocracy.

Right now, I'm watching Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, The Thick of It, Hell on Wheels, and Modern Family.

Hannibal - This starts tonight. No idea about it as I've not even watched the ads for it.
I recorded this as well on Sky whatever it is, I have no idea how good it will be but I'm mainly interested by Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal, an actor who I really like and is beginning to establish himself as a big name in modern films, I feel.

Thoughts? Comments?

I'm pleased to see Last Tango In Halifax getting recognition, as I really enjoyed that and am looking forward to another series.

Secondly, what the hell was "Murder"? I'm guessing it was on ITV, but as I don't remember Everyday, either, that might not be the case.

I think it's interesting that Girls won for Best International. Firstly, as it's a comedy and, secondly, because I felt it fell away towards the end of the second season. I'd have probably gone with Homeland.

A little surprised that the Jimmy Saville documentary didn't take the BAFTA, however, I didn't see The Shame of the Catholic Church.

Lastly, does the RTA award for Game Of Thrones give an indication of how many people are d/ling, what is otherwise, a Sky show? Or are they voting beacuse they've seen Season 1 (and maybe 2) on dvd?

On a seperate note, for those who love kitch/camp/Europop, don't fiorget that it's the Eurovision Semi-Finals on Tuesday and Thursday and the final on Saturday.

It was rather boring this year, especially with all the Olympic stuff and Claire Balding. So I was happy to see the members of the public didn't go for the Olympic Ceremony vote that a lot of people thought would be the obvious win for the Radio Times Award.

Best part of the whole night, every time Olivia Colman had to make a speech, adorable.

She's great! I love her face, she can do really vacant and dozy so well

These awards ceremonies are always boring tho aren't they? Some a hell of a lot more than others. I watched this one all the way through so it wasn't that bad. Some of my favourite programmes of the year were in there, specially in the Specialist Factual - All in the Best Possible Taste with Grayson Perry, that was really interesting and funny. The Secret History of Our Streets was engrossing, I hope they make more of those.

Y'guys wanna laugh?

Just about to finish the second season of The Walking Dead. It's good enough that I'll continue watching the third season, but it is a show with a lot of unrealized potential. The issues that the show deals with are interesting enough, but the writing is too heavy handed and a bit too simple. Also all the characters need a bit more depth and complexity. They all have certain roles to fulfill within the show and they aren't much more than that. I really wouldn't mind if most of them end up becoming zombie food as long as it's not Andrea, Dale or Glenn.

Grimm (which is also on the bubble with me), Friday Night Lights (which I think is just great), White Collar, Suits, 2 Broke Girls, Bones, Castle.

Just to pick up on a few of the shows you mentioned. Like you I'm still watching Grimm but it's more out of habit than any great desire. Pretty much every episode just feels the same. The only thing about the show I really like/love is Monroe who isn't in it anywhere near enough. I really need to catch up with Friday Night Lights. Watched and loved most of the first season but then lost track of it somehow and not gotten back to it.

Big fan of White Collar, Suits, Bones and Castle. Did you ever watch Leverage by the way? Another show I loved which sadly just ended. Seriously you watch 2 Broke Girls?! I gave it a shot for a few episodes but good god I despised it. Thought it was just awful! Though just looking at the delightful Kat Dennings was almost enough reason to make me stick with it.

Had you watched Hannibal? I've got the first couple recorded but not got round to watching them yet. Meant to check what kind of reception it got but not done so yet.

Did you stick with The Following by the way? I've got to say I grew to kind of love it. Initially I expected a really high quality, gripping show. What it turned out to be was actually a load of cobblers most of the time! But I found it highly entertaining cobblers! Particulalry when Kevin Bacon stopped moping about and starting dishing out some vengeance.

What else am I still watching at the moment? Game of Thrones, Criminal Minds, good old CSI, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, the current (and awesome!) Ninja Turtles animated series and a few others here and there. Oh and I'll need to try and catch the first episode of The Fall before it disappears off the iplayer.

Oh and thanks to youtube, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Not missed an episode for a year or two now..

I've seen the first two JayDee and I would say they are worth a watch. A good start, although a bit confusing in places, it tries to be very stylish and modern in its approach, and when it works its good, when Hannibal is actually on screen most of the scenes are good with Mikkelsen superbly cast for me. Going to have to wait a few more episodes to see the direction the show takes over the series to make a proper judgement though, in terms of plot I'm a bit unsure at the moment, the two episodes we have seen seemed very CSI, the second is better I think too. It's a bit confusing at times to as to where the character of Hannibal is actually at, in terms of relating to the Hannibal films, I've never seen Red Dragon which might be useful, only The Silence of the Lambs, although I have Manhunter recorded too

I was actually flicking through Total Film earlier and they had a little bit about the show. The show's creator I think it was said that he envisaged a five season arc that would culminate with the events of Red Dragon.

I'm pretty much the same. I think I'm going wait and see what happens with the end of this season/start of season 3. After that, I think making a decision won't be too hard.

I really need to catch up with Friday Night Lights. Watched and loved most of the first season but then lost track of it somehow and not gotten back to it.
Do. I think it really is worth your time. The last season has just started showing and, for me, I don't think the quality or interest has dropped at all.

Big fan of White Collar, Suits, Bones and Castle. Did you ever watch Leverage by the way? Another show I loved which sadly just ended.
That was the US version of Hustle, wasn't it? No, I didn't watch it.

Seriously you watch 2 Broke Girls?! I gave it a shot for a few episodes but good god I despised it. Thought it was just awful! Though just looking at the delightful Kat Dennings was almost enough reason to make me stick with it.
I don't think the second season has been anywhere near as good as the first, but I still like it... And Kat Dennings really does make it a lot easier. Should they ever make a biopic of Nigella Lawson, I don't think they need look any further.

Had you watched Hannibal? I've got the first couple recorded but not got round to watching them yet. Meant to check what kind of reception it got but not done so yet.
I've watched the first episode and have the second recorded. I thought it was ok, but nothing special. I'll stick with it for now, partly because a good friend of mine is watching it at US pace and really rates it. However, from the viewing figures there seems to be a lot of doubt that it'll make a second season.

No, I didn't. I made it to episode 9 or 10, I'm not sure which. But it'd been treading water for a good few episodes by then and, TBH, the end of episode 7, when they turn up at the mansion, was the moment I was pretty sure I was done with it.

Oh and I'll need to try and catch the first episode of The Fall before it disappears off the iplayer.
I quite liked this. I think it worth checking out.
