The entire songbooks of Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young, for sure. You won't find a bigger fan of The Band than me, but Levon Helm is so much Arkansas and such a major influence to their sound and songwriting that I can't easily slip them into the purely "Canadian" category, though if I were from the Great White North I'd surely claim them as my own.

One of my favorite songs not by those Canadians (and Southerner) is Ian & Sylvia's "Four Strong Winds"...

Love me some Guess Who, as well. My favorite tune of theirs being "Undun"...

And one of the greatest Jazz pianists of all time was and remains Oscar Peterson...

Gotta mention Paul Anka. Will I spin you some "Donna" or even Frank belting out "My Way"? Nope. Heeeeere's "Johnny's Theme"!...

And how is it no Rush fans have sniffed out this thread yet?

Since I'm a huge fan of Spencer Krug and his numerous projects AND just saw (the amazing) Wolf Parade at the Pitchfork Music Festival on Saturday:

Yeah, I just recently saw Wolf Parade myself and they rocked my socks off. Thank you to the f family for bringing some cool to this thread.

My contribution for today (also seen them live at the same festival, definitely the musical highlight, extremely tight live):

Thursday Next's Avatar
I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Ok, not my favourite Candian band (that would be Arcade Fire), but this being a movie site and all, thought I'd mention Anvil (Anvil: The Story of Anvil is such a good film)

Crystal Castles are pretty good:
