I think THE AVIATOR used that international image on the DVDs, didn't it? That's what I've been seeing in the ads, not the domestic image.
I do, though, agree with you on all the examples except this last one. I like the domestic better on that one.
Seems to me the international posters try to stress the faces and images of stars more. Perhaps because they need or want that massive draw of a familiar American actor's face on the poster? (Totally a guess.)
