The first movie that jumps to my mind is Event Horizon. Just the imagery in that movie really got to me the first time I saw it. The flashes of hell were pretty brutal.

Nowadays though I am so accustom to gore it takes a lot more to get under my skin. I wish I could find a movie that actually frightened me.

I enjoyed 1408 for the idea that if I were in his position I would be genuinely creeped OUT! but again I just dont scare easily I guess.

I have been reading through this thread trying to find some good recommendations, but from what others have posted I am starting to think maybe I just dont get HORRORS.

My Next Movie Viewing Goal: the various works of Hitchcock.

Ju-on, the original version of americas "The Grudge". Never really scared with movies but man this one just creeped me the hell out. Don't watch a dubbed version, watch one with subtitles and you may see what I mean.

Haha, wow. I actually found this place after being a long time member on a horror movie forum. The Exorcist? Hmm, I suppose. I seen it when I was nine and I don't get the big deal. I'd have to go with The Orphanage and The Wishing Stairs. Those two are probably the first ones in years that have actually made me worried about going to bed.

IT when I was 5

Signs did a very good job of creeping my out. All of the horror movies I've seen have only made me afraid of having in Achellies tendon cut.

I know what you mean. I just don't find horrors that frightening. Maybe I'm immune after watching faces of death.

Im not a huge fan of horror, and to be honest none of them are really scary these days. maybe 20 years ago people thought horror movies were scary, but not anymore. I mean look at The Excorsist...my parents say how scary and great it was...i saw it in theatre for an anniversary of it and didnt find it scary or even that good really... (I had already seen it prior to the theatre...i mostly went to the theatre because it seemed like a lot of older people thought they were SOOOO cool because they saw it in theatre, so i wanted to stick it to them)...

A friend of mine is getting into foreign horror movies...they are pretty sick... Cannibal Holocaust, The Orphanage, Audition....things like that. Cannibal Holocause looked so real that the director was arrested and charged with murder when he tried to bring the tape through another country.

im gonna ask him some reccomendations to put up here

They are. I think that it is the psychological factor of knowing that the person isn't covered in fake blood and latex but their real in body blood and what might be some end-trails. They're not going to get back up to do another take on the shot. They're pretty disgusting. I saw it when is was like 14 and havn't had any desire to see it since and I'm almost 22.

Why's there a gun in your trousers?
I would say for me its a 3 way tie between

The Exorcist
Poltergeist
Jacob's Ladder

To me it was the original Thai movie Shutter. I wasn't scared scared, but I think I jumped a few times which is more than any other movie has made me jump.

The only films that have ever scared me are The Entity (when I was about 11) and Pinocchio (again when I was a kid.) Though I thought that Ring (Ringu for our American cousins) was pretty creepy.

Creep - anyone seen it? It's DISGUSTING. Scarred me for life and I think the person that had that idea is SICK.
BWP is ok - but you don't get to SEE anything. Particularly freaked by the girl receiving the intestines. Ewww! (I'm vegan, so the whole meat thing don't sit too good with me!). Lol.
Other scary films... Um... Oh ok - i'm a chicken. LMAO!

Have you seen the a Dario Argento film. Suspira, Creepers, and especially Tenebre. Those are great horror and scary movies that have influenced all the great directors. Especially William Friedkin, Romero, Taratino, Craven. I think all these guys were influenced by Argento. I recently got DVD collection with all of his best films. It definitely includes all the ones I mentioned and like two or three more

dont look know! gets me every time. horrible horrible opening scene, little red person in a coat (that doesnt sound to scary but for anyone whos seen it they know what i mean) oh and a donald sutherland sex scene... now thats true fear!!

Troll 2

I checked the Youtube clip...

A little aside on this film...

This is the first film I have ever seen that has a 00% positive rating on RT. Not one positive review exists for this film. Not ONE.

I gots to see this! Could it be the worst (therefore a must see) film ever? The blocking is RIDICULOUS. Worst editing job I have ever seen, and that is just in that clip. HILARIOUS. I love the section in which a lady ghost appears in the mirror, then jumps out at the kid, but it's a kid in a bad goblin suit instead. Then some guy cuts its hand off. A guy that was nowhere to be seen before that, but now happens to be in the bathroom with the kid. But WAIT! They are actually OUTSIDE! How did they get there? Oh wait, someone is casting a spell on them... No wait, why bother with spells?? They have a molitov cocktail! Oh no! Someone shot it! STOP. Time for a love scene, quick, grab the summer squash and let's eat it together! Wait, it's corn. Oh no it's....

An EGG MCMUFFIN... We're finished!!!!!

HILARIOUS

OMG Troll 2!!!!!!

That is a hysterical bad movie. The scenes where Holly Waites, the main character's sister, dances in her room and the scene with the corn on the cob / popcorn seduction MADE that movie, in my opinion.

One of the scariest recent films I’ve seen is the Spanish movie "the dark hour" ... I’ve tried to add a trailer but doesnt seem to work.... check it out anyway great entertainment and with some thought provoking human survival philosophy...
