I forgot the opening line.
I heartily approve of a lot of this list - esp Climax, Mad God, You Were Never Really Here and Horror Express - four exceptional picks those.

How do you feel it compares to the original? I didn't care for the remake.

I finally watched it, and I was really impressed by the performances. Especially the protagonist and his psychiatrist.

Vanilla Sky has better production values, but I think I prefer Open Your Eyes.

Part of the problem with the remake may be that Tom Cruise is so ubiquitous that I have a hard time seeing him as his character, instead of himself. In action movies it doesn't really matter, but when the scene calls for drama, I have trouble getting into it. I had the same trouble with Eyes Wide Shut.

But I really gotta hand it to Eduardo Noriega. The amount he was able to emote through heavy makeup and a mask was very impressive.

Both versions get a

BTW, I had no idea until the movie started that Penelope Cruz was in the original as well. That was a delightful surprise.

I agree - I couldn't get past Cruise. I wish they'd gotten someone else.

Nope, it's charming. It's a heartwarming story of lonely people, without a place for themselves in the world, coming together and making it work.

It is LONG. No argument there. But it's a nice movie.

I like Paint Your Wagon, I mean it has Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood singing. Neat story too.

Well, I think we have a clear winner. Going by the upvotes the posts received, the people's choice for most Underrated Movie ever is....

Top Secret!

I just realized I forgot one! I'm gonna build up suspense by adding a 51st to go right at the beginning.

51. Time Crimes

(It may look trashy, and honestly at points it is, but it's still a really good and unnerving Time Travel story, with a dark edge.)

I love that film. Surprised nobody has remade it.

If you like that sort of thing, try Christopher Smith's 'Triangle'.

Also, count me in as a huge fan of Abre los Ojos. Definitely superior to Vanilla Sky, which still has some strengths.
