You'll have to drop their menu down to hear this song because it's the seventh song, even though I recommend all of them. This one actually sounds like recent Drive-By Truckers.. This album does have more references to Dylan and Neil Young than the last one, but being an old fart, that's GOOD!
This is from his 1993 tour with Booker T & The MGs, a tour which I experienced at Slane and one which remains the best live rock n roll show I've seen. Heck, this clip might even be from Slane: there do seem to be an inordinate number of ginger-haired Paddy types in the crowd, though that might be some sort of film discolouration...
Old Neil's a funny one, someone who I've loved for a couple of decades but a quote from a forgotten (by me, anyway, and flowered up a little) music journalist always rings true: He's not the best singer, not the best songwriter and not the best guitar player but he all too frequently clicks together into something truly fantastic.
I had a look at the Slane set list -
Mr. Soul / The Loner / Southern Man / Helpless / Like A Hurricane / Motorcycle Mama / Love To Burn / Separate Ways / Powderfinger / Only Love Can Break Your Heart / Harvest Moon / The Needle And The Damage Done / Live To Ride / Down By The River // Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay / All Along The Watchtower / Rockin' In The Free World
What's to argue with there?
It's funny how your memory plays tricks on you - I could have sworn that he'd shoehorned in a few numbers from the Ragged Glory album.
EDIT - This probably is from the concert I was at because I had a flick through the YouTube uploader's catalogue and it turns out he's got a few more (later) Young clips from Dublin gigs. Lord knows, I could have made my YouTube bow and didn't even realise.
