I went into the review section and looked up other reviews of REC, where I found yours, which I totally forgot you reviewed. So yeah, I just waited on when you would drop by, preferably with a gif, and you did not disappoint!

Thanks for checking in, CiCi, I appreciate every little thing people post in my thread (except Swan's posts but that's expected)

Your posts are amazing, I have so much fun reading them, they make me laugh at their wrongness.

So ... I watched Quarantine ...

Agree with what Gatsby said - not liking Rec is fine but thinking Quarantine is better seems kind of odd It is basically exactly the same - except every change they did make made it worse and the cast of tv support actors were kind of lacking ... everything really. Charisma, acting ability ...

Sorry MM I didn't actually hate it - it just wasn't very good. But, everyone has their personal favourites - apparently I'm the only person in the world that admits to still liking Avatar

They added the sounds of an old building squaking and what not, which added intensity when they didn't use a soundtrack for obvious reasons. That was a nice touch in my opinion.

But it's cool, Sane, I knew you wouldn't like it. No one does. I still like Avatar too.

Haha those gif's are awesome!

Man, looks like you've become my new #1 follower! You're hella crazy, Beatle, but how can I complain about a guy who actually wants to do precisely what would be my biggest wish when it comes to reviewing movies - actually read every single one I do. Mother of God... Uh, anyways, as I said you can read as many as you like and comment as much as you like, I'm not going to be the judge of what you do - in the end, I can't thank you enough for doing that but please don't kill yourself in the progress!

Thanks again, Beatle!
Are you a perfectionist, MM? I mean, my dad disrupted me with that post, I wanted to say "I'll read it all whether you like it or not, you have no saying in it!" and then do the "DEAL WITH IT!" gif. I'm frustrated bc my dad always f+ everything up. He's like jacques Clouseau, he nearly wrecks the entire building.

Thanks for appreciating them anyway! And what's wrong with being your no1 follower? Since Jesus won't come for the second time already (I'd been waiting 'til '14 and then I had enough), would you be my Messiah? ok, I've gone far enough, I'm just KIDDING man (not about the thread, though!), I'm not a megalomaniac psychopathic lunatic madman. But i agree with you, I am crazy.

I probably won't kill myself, but you never know.

And thank you for thanking me and welcome you for welcoming me and...

Really? I love Avatar, man! It really is a great film!

It was like my second review or something the memories!

I'm also a bit gutted that you've described the way I post almost perfectly, I'll have to be far more original from now on

Beverly Hills Cop (1984)

"Is this the gentleman who crashed through Victor Maitland's window?
Who disabled an unmarked unit with a banana?"

I do believe that I have watched this film growing up, during my childhood, and if that isn’t the case then I have most definitely watched a few of those classic scenes from the film, like the banana in the exhaust. Anyways, I do consider this may first “real watch” of the film, since I didn’t really remember that much and it felt mostly like a new film to me when watching it. I know all about the classic cult status that this film has accomplished throughout the years, and it isn’t that hard to see why – it is funny and entertaining, full of decent action and inventive gags, and with a groovy 80s atmosphere that you just cannot come near in today’s cinema – especially not with that full-blown 80s synthesized soundtrack, which has gotten major recognition and praise ever since it rolled across the screen in this film.

After saying all that, I must admit that because I didn’t watch this back when it was hot and famous, it looses that sentimental and nostalgic value that I can see it having with other people. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely enjoyed it and it was a fun ride, but to me there really wasn’t anything that special or unique about it and I didn’t see it moving past your typical 80s fun. That is not at all a bad thing; it just means that I found it entertaining and not much more. I could see myself watching it again with great pleasure, but it will never be anything that a fun and good time, which is all it pretty much aims for, really, so it isn’t like I try to drag it through the dirt for something that it never intended to be. It succeeds with being what it is, and I definitely like the movie for that reason… Dun-Dun-Dun-DaDun-DaDun-DunDun!

FAVORITE SCENE // The Banana Exhaust & The Wrongful Arrest (Window Scene)

Guess what? I agree.

No way dude! it's not even funny anymore, now it's just scary!

But really, when I saw you quoted that one I was ready to scroll down to find out you didn't agree. A lot of people love that one and I definitely find myself in the minority when not loving it to death but still liking it.

But yeah, I'm honest even about classics. I'm sure you'll find a movie we disagree on sometime. Thanks, Beatle!

What do you mean scary? I said LONG AGO it's becoming unbearable. But that's what i love the most - the unbearable.

Welcome, MM!

—— 2001 ——
GHOST WORLD
—— drama ——

I chose to watch this film as I saw it on
both the comic book list and the millennium list...

'Ghost World' has become rather cult over time and I can clearly see why. It tries to capture this place and time and change, where an uneven and quirky atmosphere helps the film to constantly move itself further away from the ordinary and into its own world. And almost like the film itself, we follow these two socially awkward outsiders, who parallel this set-up, and can’t seem to find their own personal place in life after having graduated from high school and left these safe surroundings. They both seem to share an incomplete and underdeveloped idea about their future that they want to follow, but the fundament for their future is fragmented and without rational thinking.

After ending high school, everybody else seem to have prepared their plans and know what they want in life, while Enid and Rebecca remain trapped in this “ghost world”, where everything around them is moving and changing, while they are just floating around without being attached or held responsible for anything. But all this fooling around causes their world to crash with reality, which slowly make them realize the world is not waiting for nobody and they have to take responsibility. It becomes a problem though, when Rebecca seems to find the rhythm of life, while Enid is still stuck as more or less irresponsible and unprepared for anything. Their friendship is tested once their lives move in different directions – only Enid doesn't have a destined path to walk on.

This film is one of those that depicts society in weird subjective ways and builds a world around it without too many obvious parallels to our own. Basically, it is the world as viewed by our two main characters and their different perception of life, which makes for an off-beat experience out of the norm of reality. As it is often the case with films like these, you either find your footing in them or you don't. Personally I had a hard time clicking with the characters or caring about the story, though I really liked some things about it. I liked the outline of it, where these two young people find themselves stuck in reality and has to learn how to take responsibility and realize the world is not waiting for no one – it is a very subjectively made film, but that doesn’t mean you can’t draw certain parallels to your own life – especially when the film focuses on the inner emotions and not outer layers. We can all understand emotions and human characters, so that is definitely a strong point.

I think the ending was just about the best thing about this movie, especially because of the ambiguity and the braveness of it. The film constantly had an underlying layer of gloominess to it, but it never got truly dark throughout, especially not how unexpected it was done in the end. Apart from that I liked Steve Buscemi in this film and he worked well for the story and created a nice contrast. Generally, the acting was pretty solid and the movie isn’t bad by any means, but it just never did much to me, despite of being able to relate to certain aspects. I felt like it had more potential than what seemed to be fulfilled, but I can definitely admire it in some ways and I have no problem seeing why some people absolutely love it.

The Graduate (1967)

As I said back when I was just about to watch it: this is probably one of the biggest movies that I have had on my watchlist for ages without ever actually watching Dustin Hoffman is an amazing actor, so that obviously had me interested enough on its own, but also the fact that I have seen so many classic scenes from the film by now I feel like I already know and love it before even watching it. And I was kind of right, because I absolutely loved this film... It is not perfect, but there is many groundbreaking things about it and it sort of holds a good balance between controlled and lively filmmaking. What I mean is, that the film hasn’t got a problem being smart and witty while also pulling of some interesting and inventive shots and frame-compositions.

I think the story it wanted to tell was extremely interesting though quite obvious at times, but overall you just have such a fun time with it that you don’t care whether or not it departures from what it set out to be – or that it wants to have more fun than what it should be “allowed to”. This already stands as one of my new favorite films, I think, and I can’t wait to watch it again some time.

You didn't actually think I was gonna let you down, did you?

The Graduate is one of my all-time favorites and is one of those movies I hate to put something above or even equal to it. Not to drag on, I agree 100%.

I love what you said about The Party...made me want to see it.
Thank you, Gideon. I missed your comment in here, sorry about that. I rarely check in here anymore since I don't really have time for reviews anymore.

But I'm glad I made you want to watch it. It's a fun film.
