If I had a steak, I would f**k it!
Yep, 1994 is the famous one, though 1999 is pretty high up there, too.
Yeah, that's one of my favorites too, actually. You got Green Mile, Sixth Sense, Matrix, Fight Club, Office Space, Toy Story 2, South Park movie, etc.

Though IMO Green Mile should NOT have lost Best Picture to American Beauty!

1994 would probably be my first pick

Had 3 of my favorite movies:
Shawshank
Forrest Gump
Pulp Fiction

Then some nostalgic movies for me:
Little Giants
Lion King
The Mask
Dumb and Dumber
Angels In The Outfield
The Santa Clause

Then some movies I like, or classics I haven't seen:
Leon: The Professional
Schindler's List
Quiz Show
Speed

The 3 up top just push this year over the top

I was more curious about what movies you personally loved from 1939. I can google top lists myself.
There are a lot on the list I haven't seen, but In addition to the top three (Wizard of Oz being an all time favorite), I love...
Gunga Din
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Goodbye Mr. Chips
Of Mice and Men
Young Mr. Lincoln
The Man in the Iron Mask
Gulliver's Travels (love this animated Fleischer version!)
Five Came Back

Interesting, with Five Came Back - it almost seems the precursor to Gilligan's Island, but handled seriously as a group of very disparate personalities crash land and are stranded in a jungle. Actually, it has some intrigue, so it could also be considered the template for Lost. It stars a young Lucille Ball not trying to be funny! A good watch for people who like survival films, disaster movies, adventures and thrillers.

Be a freak, like me too
1966

Blow Up, M. Antonioni
Shadows Of Forgotten Ancestors, S. Paradjanov

Au Hasard Balthazar, R. Bresson

Django, S. Corbucci

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, S. Leone
Operazione Paura, M. Bava

Daisies, V. Chytilova

For A Fistul Of Dollars, S. Leone
Persona, I. Bergman

Not the best year but a good year (and I didn't mention all the famous films from this year like Un Homme et Une Femme, Fahrenheit 451, etc.)
