Midnight Special was somewhat along these lines but more of an outsiders view of it.
I actually thought the first half of Lucy was surprising good, I mean the Freeman stuff was very on the nose but showing apotheosis as a negative for the person its happening to effectively losing themselves worked very well. Made a change from these kinds of films being power fantasys alone.
