FRIENLDY MUSHROOM'S READING LOG

Though I have already finished my goal to read thirty books this year, I still thought I should just start this now, as I don't think anyone else here as started some similar.

Okay here are my guidelines.

Every time I start, finish or make progress with a book. I'll make a comment and or short review of it. In the second post, I'll list all the books I have read starting from 2015 along with my progress with my reading challenge. Discussion regarding conventional and unconventional opinions is encouraged.

I don't think there is much else to say so I'm just going to cut to the chase.

Here you go.

Oh, God. It's started. PERSONAL BOOK THREADS.

What's next? A MoFo Sewing/Knitting Circle?

K I'm back.

I'm interested in your thoughts on the Ghost in the Shell manga.
I found it boring due to characters with little to no personality or likability or plots I could make sense or enjoyment of. The artwork and the lesbian sex scene was nice but I personally could have gotten much more entertainment out of it.

What do you think of Sanderson?
He's very good. I read Elantris and Rithmatist last year which were equally good to Steelheart. However,

1. All three of those novels had little quirks that almost decreased my score of them. Elantris had Serene, Rithmatist had obvious villain and good, but not very memorable characters, and Steelheart had some pacing issues.
may have been a little generous but they were all very fun and that's what made me happy. Firefight, which I'm almost halfway done with, is good but as of now, my least favorite of what I have read of him.

2. Knowing Sanderson finished The Wheel Time series, and the fact I didn't not enjoy Eye of the World, makes me feel I'm contradicting myself. Then again, Mr. Minio is the art house king on this site and he doesn't like Fellini so I guess its possible.

Miyazaki

17. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind Vol. 7 by Hayao Miyazaki
Miyazaki is the God of fiction as Bach is the God of Music
Glad to find someone else who appreciates Nausicaa manga here. Its my favorite work of fiction, very impressive and different from Miazaki's films in its seriousness and maturity. The film is just a pale shadow of the manga and it is in my top favorite films of all time.

Essential reading for anybody who likes graphic fiction.
