just for funsies and to see what i'm getting into i listened to the round 2 selections and thought i'd share some thoughts. hope posting a list won't be a nuisance for the host trying to tally votes
01. Sarah Shook & The Disarmers - Dwight Yoakam
- the style of country i like and that shake in her voice is just heavenly
02. no buses - home
- kind of on the same page as what i nominated for round 3, love when it gets noisy, love the drum plugins
03. Japanese Breakfast - Be Sweet
- fun and cute, maybe a style that's starting to get old but this still hits
04. Tinchy Stryder ft. N-Dubz - Number 1
- i hated this style at the time but now i'm lowkey nostalgic for it. great chorus
05. Machine Girl - Out by 16, Dead on the Scene
- just a bunch fun grooves!
06. Moondog - Theme (Instrumental)
- feels like only an intro but it sounds dope anyway
07. Nova Twins - Antagonist
- cool track, gives me Rico Nasty vibes. unfortunately haven't completely deprogrammed the negative knee-jerk reaction i have to nu-metal quite yet
08. Sophie Barker - Let's Start Again
- lots of fun sounds, doesn't quite get the needle moving but its still nice
09. Churchburn - Swallowed by Dust
- adjacent to a lot of metal i like but for this particular sound to really hit for me it has to be a lot more crushing. dig the vocals tho and by the end it does get going
10. Tanya Tagaq - Colonizer
- love all the sounds used but i was just waiting for it to kick into 2nd gear
11. Scardust - Concrete Cages
- there's not a lot of music in this style that i like. its clearly well performed and all that but just not for me. the breakdown where the bass starts going nuts is kinda fun tho
12. Thomas Rhett - Die a Happy Man
- and this is the kind of country i don't like. still generally inoffensive tho
good batch of tracks. only the bottom two i'd say i dislike and neither of those were close to being hated or anything.
