(UNFATHOMABLE AMOUNT OF REWATCHES) Animal House (1978)
A spiritual and holistic sojourn set in the early 60's that was, for me, from its glorious genesis displayed at my local and most sacred movie theater screen; I was granted the majestic privilege to bear witness to this uplifting saga of wholesome scholastic pursuits and ideologies. Instilling in this child, not yet a man, a structured and grounded moral fiber and dare I say, my own personal Code of Ethics. Enlightening this humble, quiet lad. Preparing me as I entered high school and beyond.
God Bless this movie and the stalwart souls who created it.
Amen.

Lost In La Mancha

Who is the man who killed Don Quixote? I guess we'll never know as everything that can go wrong, does go wrong on the set of Terry Gilliam's passion project film that never was... natural disasters, actor falling ill, investors pulling out and a whole bunch of ineptitude occurr, even when the film is so obviously lost, they carry on.. trying to gey something ANYTHING on film so as there is something to show for the years of work and millions of dollars spent. It's a shame really I would have liked to see the film... so I googled about it afterwards and Gilliam is making it NOW but there's been more setbacks lol

3/5

Nice to see a more serious Santa movie, without any Allen influence. It's a rewatch for me, with many fond memories. Lithgow was Lithgow, perfect. Great to have Meredith (tiny role) not yelling at Rocky, for a change. Wooden toys made by elves who aren't children, some reindeer puppetry magic and Reeve's Superman style intro and special effects, make for a nice vintage atmosphere. Moore was also excellent. I think this movie is seriously underrated.

The Secret in Their Eyes (2009)

I found this Argentinian movie a few months ago when I googled "great movies you've never heard of". It won the Academy Award for best foreign film, so I'm sure there are other members who know of it and have seen it. The story is nothing all that original. It's set up and plays out as a crime/thriller in which there's a rape and murder, an investigation, and a resolution. Much of the film is told in flashback. What we end up getting besides the crime/thriller aspect, is a love story. I found both of these angles to be emotionally powerful. The movie effectively touches on themes like passion, memories, and second chances. It has ugliness and beauty. I found this to be masterful filmmaking, with great acting and a perfectly subtle musical score. An American remake was done, and from what I understand, it is a very average movie. I don't see the sense in remaking a movie like this, in which the actual story is not the highlight, but the execution and the chemistry of the cast. That is something that cannot be replicated. After about a year of not giving any movie my highest rating, this makes two in the last three weeks after How Green Was My Valley.

Don't like it as much as you but it is a good movie. Surprised you gave it
, did think you'd like it though.
I'm a sucker for any movie that makes me emotional, and plus I thought it was expertly made.

Open Your Eyes (1997)

There's a few facial reconstruction movies out there, and I don't seem to like any of them the way most people do. Maybe that's just a coincidence, I have no idea. I liked this for about the first half. It was pretty well made, stylish, and had some cool scenes. Once an hour or a little less passed, I completely lost interest. I'm not a big fan of the blending of reality and illusion either.
