I havnt read all the replies so i dont know if anyone has already agreed with me on this, but i think that the best character ever created, then potrayed perfectly by the actor playing him was Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird
and in a close second is the most menacing, intimidating, pure incarnation of evil ever presented on film, Darth Vader. (though not totally pure evil, but I'm referring to only the Vader from A New Hope, which i still belive never needed any sequels to be the best science fiction movie of all time.

they crack me up.
