look for e.g at johnny depp in blow and potc..same actor, but totally diff ways of acting/technique...different approaches for the character
while orlando is repetitive in his facial expression and way of talking
he is not at all talented

Comparing Bloom to Depp is a bit unfair to me… Not only has Depp been around a lot longer... there are just not that many that can compare to Depp…

Well, i can say i dont like Bloom...at all. I dont think hes a good actor, and i know hes young and whatever and has been in only few films, but compared to Tobey McGuire (sp) and Leonardo DiCaprio, who are arround his age and their films and the characters they played are amazing.

Orlando Bloom plays one character, in my view.

I cannot see Orlando Bloom taking a character or acting it out like Leonardo DiCaprio had done in Whats Eating Gilbert Grape nor the characters or film like Basketball Diaries

I also cant see him doing or acting anywhere as near as good as Jake Gylenhaal had done in Donny Darko. Jake is a great actor, and has been in only few movies, and has won much respect from many people, while Orlando gets excuses like ''he hasnt been in many films, give him a chance'

Heath Ledger is much much betteractor than Orlando Bloom, and unlike Orlando Bloom, these actors i talked about are not afraid to take risky roles where their pretty boy immage is totaly ruined.

This is how i see it, and i dont think hes a great actor, and generaly, im not his fan, whatsoever.

Also, he has been outplayed by every actor in every movie hes been so far, hes been outplayed by everyone in Troy (but im gonna assume that was ok, because he was up against people like Sean Bean, Brad Pitt, the awesome Peter O'Tool, Brian Cox, Eric Bana...etc.) Hes been ouplayed by Johnny Depp in Pirates, and ok, lets say Johnny is better actor with more experience, but even in Ned Kelly, hes been out played by Heath Ledger.

He hasnt given me in any film ive seen with him anything that i could look at and think: ''wow, this guy really has it, hes gonna be awesome in the future'
Personaly see nothing great about him, or special going on

I applaude the way you stated your case. No one can argue with the way you feel.

A lot of people felt that he did a poor job as Paris in Troy. But if people actually read the Illiad along with history of the Trojan war theyd see that he did a good job portraying cowardly Paris.

I agree. For a long time I couldn't look at him without thinking "What's the elf from LOTR doing here?!" But he convinced me he was a different bloke in Pirates, so his acting mustn't be that bad.

agreed. i cant beleive that there is actually discussion and argument over this thread. Once reading the thread title i thought it would just be 'bout 7 or 8 posts by people having a spiel about how blatantly crap Orlando Bloom is (me probably being one of them ), and then the topic dieing.
I guess the thing i am amazed at is that there is actually healthy competetion from people supporting a flavour of the month(ofcourse i dont mean this literally) like Orlando Bloom.

ps. no i dont feel like having my tail pulled on this because i have lost interest in the topic. I have managed to convince most of the people i know that he is a terrible actor and his popularity with those young girls is dieing, along with the rest of the world wising up to his tricks

Since I had been joking about tail pulling, I'm assuming you mean me. Have no fear D'yer, I have absolutely no interest in your tail.

However, it would be nice for Bloom's fans if you would clarify what you mean by "wising up to his tricks". What tricks?

Orlando Bloom does not suck, nor his he the best thing since sliced bread. In fact he isn't even close to sitting on the edge of 'one movie that will make or break his career based on his performance'. In his toughest critics mind, he his but one beautiful boy who is just riding his luck with LOTR, no real talent what-so-ever, just a pretty face. To his very lenient fans, he's an incredible actor and so deserves an Oscar. Like totally!

He's on his way. He does need to grow up a little more, but all young actors do sometime. Once he gains his footing and defines his style a bit more we'll see his true colors. Yes he has talent. Sure he's freaking hot, but until he goes past the face and proves the talent which I believe we are yet to truley see, there will be such debates like this.

He doesn't need an indie flick to prove he is a 'serious actor' or even an actor at that. He doesn't even need the 'right' indie flick. (What's it with people thinking an actor is serious about their craft once they've done an indie?). He just needs the right film to shine, the right charachter. And the talent he has shown will lead him to the right film. Don't fret Orly fans, your fan fictions will not be in vain. It may take a while but I think pretty-face will do just fine.

Haha! *evil, satanic laugh* You're right, lets pulla J. Kerry and get him a new face weekly (I'm a lefty btw)

Sorry, but most of his roles don't indulge being some crazy, lunatic such as Depp in POTC. He plays serious roles, and he can do them greatly. I've only seen two of his movies I believe, LOTR (take it one whole big movie) and POTC. Honestly, after this thread I'll go out and rent most of his movies to even try to get to the point you're trying to express.

Honestly, the fact of Bloom having his own, shining moment is a cruddy idea. That's like saying throw a camera on him as he sits with a fake background for two hours. Sorry, but with out supporting cast and co-stars, you won't get ANYWHERE!

Bloom is a child of the new century. Including himself with the new stuff and the twenty first century is one thing. Putting him as star in some old movie that will only attract people of good intellect is another thing. Seriously, he needs a role where he can sit back and just let himself be himself. Not some up-tight, need to be civil person.

Saying he's a civil person is like saying he's keeping his virginity for marriage (no offense). Those kinds of roles just don't work for a boy like him.
