The more I think about this im slowly changing my mind about it, I think I am not looking forward to it as much as I did the first.

I know there's always this need to have people in the film but why not for once, now that they have somewhat broken some new ground here, do an almost entirely silent version of the film from the monster's perspective. We could see his origin and how he came to the destruction of an entire city. Now of course we could still have plenty of sound effects and a musical score and there's certainly plenty of side trips we could take to keep the inevitable people storyline in there as well. But I think that would be cool.
That sounds like areally good idea reversing the roles and making the people the antagonists with the monster having no idea why its being attacked its either that or the same night from someone elses point of view but i cant see that working i just genuinely hope they dont bother rather than make another "book of secrets"

I think I know what you mean.
The camera issue for one.
But Ilike monster movies so much, I'll try to overlook it.
1950s sci-fi movies are really fake, but I accept it with no problem.
I'm still looking forward to the new film.

Super 8 has NOTHING to do with the proposed Cloverfield 2. Read here in its thread here.

I will be posting whats been reported so far on the proposed Cloverfield sequel as soon as I gather the info.

Cloverfield Sequel In The Works According to JJ Abrams



The latest update reported on the proposed sequel to 2008's Cloverfield happens to be from this past March 2nd of 2009. Courtesy of Bloody Disgusting (Via Cloverfield News).

JJ Abrams ran a panel at Wondercon to discuss his latest hit television show Fringe and while on the panel he was asked about the Cloverfield sequel and what’s going on with that. Below is his response:

“We’re actually working on an idea right now,” Abrams told the packed crowd. “The key obviously at doing any kind of sequel, certainly this film included, is that it better not be a business decision. If you’re going to do something, it should be because you’re really inspired to do it. It doesn’t really have to mean anything, doesn’t mean it will work, but it means we did it because we cared, not because we thought we could get the bucks. We have an idea that we thought was pretty cool that we’re playing with, which means there will be something that’s connected to ‘Cloverfield,’ but I hope it happens sooner than later because the idea is pretty sweet.“
So there you have it, they are currently working on something and, at least, JJ wants it to happen sooner than later.

Although, Collider recently ran an article and J.J. Abrams (vaguely saying the same thing) acknowledged that something is being worked on:

“We’re working on something right now with that and again, you know its early stages.”
