Tim Burton's "Big Fish"

This is a quite common practice in trailers, as they are often put together before the film's score and final editing have been completed.
Either way, I'm sure, as usual, Elfman's work for Scissorhands sounds much like the rest of his collaborations with Burton.

P.S OK Kong...the big and final question that will decide it for me...
Shawshank? Come on

It still sounds itneresting but not very Tim Burton yet!I mean his movies are dark!
Even the plot does not sound at all like Tim Bouton I am afraid he is losing his dark side and going the light side of the force!
But I will watch it I think!See you around!JM Cool trailer!

Have a look at the trailer and let me know what you think -
Big Fish
Helena Bonham Carter (sp?) looks Very cool in it too

Im looking forward to hearing it. i love it that Elfman does all of Burton's music. His great at composing the scores for Tim Burton's films. its the perfect partnership, he creates the sounds to the wonderful atmosphere Burton always creates. It also sounds like Elfman has doen the music for the new spider man movie too, thought that was a great score too

Kong's seeing Big Fish at noon tomorrow. He'll post his impressions then.

Well, it wasn't as bad as Kong expected, but it wasn't good either.
Kong wasn't taken in by the stories, and as a result the movie felt completely flat. The most interesting aspect of the movie is the relationship between Billy Crudup's character and his father, William Bloom (when he's being played by Albert Finney), but that's also the most ignored. The movie focuses on the grandiose stories of Finney, and tells them through flashback. These stories are generally too cutesy and hokey for Kong's taste.
The tradition of oral storytelling gets its power from its ability to capture the imagination of the listener, and Kong would've preferred for the stories to not have been visualized for him. Maybe Burton didn't trust his audience, maybe he wasn't confident in the stories, or maybe he was enraptured with his own visualizations, but, whatever the reason, not allowing the audience to create their own imaginings around these oral tales is unfortunate. Iw would have made the film less cinematic, but also more interesting, challenging, and engaging.
Most of the audience seemd to really like the film. Of course, Kong watches far more films than most people, and has become more critical as a result. There were five of us videostore clerks at the screening today, and four of us didn't like it. Take from that what you will. Most people on this forum, however, will probably enjoy it.
i thought that the film was a little on the slow side, but was interesting to watch nevertheless...
it does focus on many of tall tales told by father to son and the son's attempts to get at the truth...
i would only recommend this film to people who absolutely love tim burton...
the two standouts however were albert finney and ewan mcgregor as older and younger versions of the father
i would give this movie a b
