It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It was no oscar worthy material mind you, but it wasn't razzie material either, well not quite.
From what I read about the sequel is that it will be taking place in middle America. If I remember correctly. I don't really feel like going back and looking right now, but yeah I'd like to see them work that one.
And no, Anderson is not attached to this one.

its only my opinion..
I agree, it's one of those movies that you can sit down and watch and not really have to worry about thinking about anything. That's what made the Alien movies and Predator movies so enjoyable.
Personally, I can agree with others when they say the action just sorta stops out of no where. It's not completely mindless, and certain parts are quite humerous. Especially when Lance Henriksen says, "Don't turn your back on me!!" I couldn't help but laugh.
The first one had a great background story, as far as why the underground temple, why there was an abandoned whaling station. It answered a lot of questions one might have, well kinda.
Like I said with the proposed sequel, and now I don't remember where I read about it at, taking place in middle america, what kinda of background can you bring to that, that would make it easy to digest? Naturally, if you saw the last one, you know how it ends, so I can understand that being a reason for a sequel. And this last paragraph is totally pointless, but I'll leave it.
