I keep every single book I read in my house these days. I did sell some over the last decade or so, but now I try to keep them all. My mum asked me earlier today if I thought she’d enjoy Chaucer. Which… in short, no, but I was able to dig up a somewhat dog-eared copy back from my uni days.
It’s such a luxury to be able to keep books. They are in themselves a historical marker of sorts, which is what books like House of Leaves are getting at.
Just to be clear: I still own them. I just have more than 1,300 print books in my house, strewn across many rooms (I wish I had a dedicated library room, but I don't yet), so it took me about five full minutes to
find my copies. And next to them was another beautifully laid out book I bought but haven't yet read (but took down from the shelf so I can make it next up on the TBR pile. It's
