So in the end Daisy never really loved Gatsby did she ?

I wasn't too fond of it. The big, overblown production seemed to be in complete defiance of the nature of the book, which was centered around the characters and the great writing. I actually didn't mind the cast, although I thought DiCaprio was only middling as Jay. They really needed someone with a larger personality, although I don't know exactly who. Sets were overblown, and, as is generally the case, 3D was irrelevant at best, annoying at worst. What's unfortunate is that once a big budget version of a story like Gatsby is done, for better or worse, it's like all the air gets sucked out of the room so a better version won't happen again for a long time. Sadly, we will have to live with this one for a while, kinda like how Cameron's Prometheus nixed DelToro's filming of The Mountains of Madness.

The Great Gatsby is an 2013 australian-american film, directed and co-written by Baz Luhrmann, based on a F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel of the same name. You can find as main actors Leonardo Di Caprio and Tobey Maguire (spiderman, if you don't know who he is).

The story takes place in the twenties, at Long Island ;Nick Carraway, the narrator, is fascinated by Jay Gatsby, his young and mysterious millionaire neighbour, who seems to be very popular despite the fact that nobody never really see him. One day, Nick is invited at one of the several parties that Gatsby organize, but he doesn't know that his life will literaly change when he'll meet the great Gatsby.

So, what did I think about this movie? I'm very mitigated. I loved the story of Gatsby, I was really fascinated as well as Nick. In my opinion, it's the most profound character of the film and the performance of Di Caprio was very convincing and realistic. The love story between Gatsby and Daisy is very beautiful, and maybe a little bit too idealized (at the beginning), but I loved that side of the film. I appreciated too the beauty of the costumes and the sets, it had a very good effect. What I don't liked was the overage of visual effects, it was not necessery. Plus, there was a strange mix of old and modern, and the parties at Gatsby's home seemed to be like the parties we organize at the 21th century. It was of course the director's whish, but in my opinion the two periods was not compatible.

In conclusion, I appreciated the story of the film, the performance of Leonardo Di Caprio and the sets, but I think the director was too fond of special effects and that he should have stayed in the atmosphere of the twenties and not include the modernity of our century.

A 2013 Australian-American film 'The Great Gatsby' is a 3D drama film. This movie has been an adaptation of the novel of the same name which was released in 1952. Great actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Amitabh Bachchan and many other actors have done a great work in this movie.

I found the movie unconvincing and as Mastermetal stated, I have ale read the book and there is no comparison.

There are so many awful movies, boring movies, incomprehensible movies that this movie stands out among those . After having seen countless number of bad movies I would have to say that yes, this was a good movie because at the very least it could be understood and it was not boring.
