Watch Movies You Should Have Already Seen

Tools

Foster didn't leave a list, so I guess I don't get to pick for anybody.

Fixing to watch Raging Bull, I'm going to leave my thoughts in the Movie Tab after I watch a couple more movies.

1. The Elephant Man (1980)
2. Cutter's Way (1981)
3. Fanny and Alexander (1982)
4. Nostalghia (1983)
5. Once Upon a Time in America (1984)
6. Come and See (1985)
7. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
8. Predator (1987)
9. Dead Ringers (1988)
10. Do the Right Thing (1989)
Do The Right Thing.

And I watched Shawshank, and like most people, I loved it. Optimistic, but never becomes hokey. Inspiring source material, a likable, hard to read performance by Robbins (the highlight of the movie for me,) and of course Morgan Freeman, whose terrific on screen, and off, with his obvious talents as a reflecting narrator. Bob Gunton also played on of the most easy to hate villains I've seen.

I'll take ManOf1000Faces's suggestion and go with Silence Of The Lambs. That's been up there for a while, too. I've had it borrowed for a long time, so I have no excuse.

1.Any Hitchcock film.
2.Sunrise (1927)
3.All About My Mother (1999)
4.Jackie Brown (1997)
5.Casablanca (1942)
6.Silence Of The Lambs (1991)
7.The Piano Teacher (2002)
8.No Country For Old Men (2007)
9. Wild Strawberries (1957)
10.The Mirror (1975)

Let the night air cool you off
I choose Psycho (1960) for LateRegistration, because he needs some Hitchcock in his life.

I saw Do the Right Thing. I didn't like it. It was too preachy for me.

3. Cinema Paradiso (1988)

10. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) *rewatch

Oh, and I forgot to add my thoughts on Blood Diamond... I thought it was boringly predictable but the cinematography was nice. The subject matter deserved better than a formulaic white man's redemption story.

I really, really do. I'll get right on it, man.

And I'm going with Spring Breakers, Deadite. It's one of my top ten favorites, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Ok I think I get this game. I tell you what to watch, list 10 films I haven't watched, and the next guy tells me which one I should watch.

Ok so you watch Maniac 'cause it looks really bad and sleazy and I'm totally gonna watch it hehe.

Lawrance of Arabia
Dracula (the first Lugosi one)
Citizen Kane
Harold and Maude
American Beauty
Mulholland Drive
The Human Centipede (yeah, I don't know why I'm doing this to myself)
A Fistful of Dollars
Boogie Nights
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls

Yeah, PTA's Magnolia is pretty awesome, and Punch-Drunk Love was very nice and personal too. I'll get on it then.

Nobody picked for me, so I chose Cutter's Way for myself. I'll be starting it in a moment, I'll edit my thoughts in here.

new ten:

1. Cinema Paradiso (1988)
2. Platoon (1986) *rewatch
3. Blade Runner (1982) *rewatch
4. Evil Dead Trap (1988)
5. Night of the Creeps (1986)
6. Dead Ringers (1988)
7. Scarface (1983) *rewatch
8. Come and See (1985)
9. Full Metal Jacket (1987) *rewatch
10. My Left Foot (1989)

Spring Breakers wasn't too good. I could appreciate the style, like a gaudy reverie, but that's about all it had going on. No characters, no plot, ho-hum story of shallow obnoxious girls gone wild. Amusing diversion at best, but it's no Lord Of The Flies.

1. Jug Face
2. American Gangster
3. Appaloosa
4. Byzantium
5. Mud
6. Safety Not Guaranteed
7. 13 Eerie
8. The Place Beyond The Pines
9. Bullet To The Head
10. Jack Reacher

What did you think of James Franco? And are you familiar with who RiFF RAFF is? I kind of hated Spring Breakers, but James Franco was spot on for the character he was going for. Which is the RiFF RAFF guy I just mentioned.

RIFF RAFF? I dunno. A rapper, I guess? Didn't a rapper sue over the film? Or was that a different one?

All I thought of him was he was like Drexl from True Romance.

Spring Breakers wasn't too good.
I could've told you this. TBH, I think a lot of people could've.

1. Jug Face
2. American Gangster
3. Appaloosa
4. Byzantium
5. Mud
6. Safety Not Guaranteed
7. 13 Eerie
8. The Place Beyond The Pines
9. Bullet To The Head
10. Jack Reacher
Jack Reacher. I've seen some positive reviews and it looks like it might be fun.

All I thought of him was he was like Drexl from True Romance.
Oh, God. Now I really don't want to see it. The only good thing about the film is an impression of a character I've always hated from a film I used to/do like? That's really not a recommendation, is it.

Yeah, I had my doubts about the last two picks but those were the picks made for me.

I read Killing Floor and another Reacher novel years ago, and from what I recall, Tom doesn't fit my memory of the character, but the trailer suggests it's at least decent.
