I tried to stick with mostly American movies, throwing in an occassional foreign movie. Some of the movies mentioned could croos into another category. It would be impossible for me to compile an all inclusive list so I stuck to my basic list. Whatever you consider an ulltimate action movie is fine with me and can be foreign to be inclusive, so feel free to add.

Lists like that make my brain hurt. Can't we just narrow it down to about 20 or so? My ADD won't let me read all those titles. I swear, I even tried.

At least Die Hard and Lethal Weapon are on there, though I wouldn't go so far as to say that the 4th of either of those should be included. Yuck.

Did you not see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol? I hear from lots of sources that it's the best one or second best at least.

Yes, thank you for oppening that door. Love John Woo's action, which brings to mind:
A Better Tomorrow I and II, although I must admit that I was more impressed by the Korean re-make.
And Chow Yun Fat did go on to make a few movies in the US: The Replacement Killers
The Corruptor
Bulletproof Monk

If you want to achieve greatness, stop asking for permission
It's been a while since I have seen it but I think that B-13 Ultimatum had more action then the first.
Agreed.

Believe me, I hate the long lists, too. I'm the one making them.
And doing so mostly beacuse I feel that there might be just a few movies someone from that list has not seen, so if they do see them as a result of my mentioning them, I feel it's a worthwhile contribution.

I have not seen Ghost Protocol and I'm looking forward to it. It's in my unseen movie area and that is roughly about 10% of my total library.
I'm never out of movies to watch, but do have internal war all the time as to what will I watch now, no matter what mood I'm in.

Sit Ubu Sit.... Good Dog
I think Drive Angry should be on that list, the movie blew me away I mean from watching the trailer you would have no idea what the movie is really about and how great it is for all the gore and violence.

Umm...no Ong-Bak?!?!?!?!
I tried to stay away from the strict martial arts stuff, since many would label it as such category but yeah it qualifies as action.
Ong Bak 2 would be my vavorite in the sceries bur if you realy want to see some interesting costume, choreography and cinematagrophy, I highly reccomend Bangra Jan, which you could probably put in Thai war action.

P.S. Over the last decade, Quentin Tarantino and Oliver Stone have really taken an interest in the Asian movie market and are arranging co-distribution for the States so now Americans have access to movies that they would never see unless they went to those specific countries and even then, they would have to watch it in native language, without subtitles.

Oh yeah and I refuse to watch anything with Segal in it, if that makes me a bad person then so be it.
Thanks. I will check Drive Angry. What's with you and Segal? His first few movies were as good action as you would ever see ( Out For Justice will absolutely blow you away ).

I preferred the original. It was more compact and focused and the story line was better. But, that's just me.

Thanks for the effort. I have all that. Blind Fury is with Rutger Hauer ( makes me think him wit Stalone in another movie, where he plays a terrorist)
Stand corrected, haven't seen Hollow point and I love Thomas Ian Griffith - Excessive Force, Ulterior Motives.

I'm with akatemple on Drive Angry, silly but fun over the top action.

Some others that are good and that I like that fall under Action or a hybrid like Action/Sci-Fi:

The Nest

^ Some excellent action sequences in this film, especially towards the end.

^ Exciting film from South Korea, and if you like this, try the more mellow:

A French film starring Vincent Cassel, I believe he is taking up the role again for a sequel:

More on the Thriller side:

Point Break

Have to have this sci-fi/action neo noir on the list:

and same for:

Yet to see the 4th film, but so far I've only liked the third out of the series, brilliant:

Point Blanck, The Tube, The Nest and Exiled I have, as well as the rest.
I'm not a big fan of Johnny To's direction and the start of Exiled was just too slow and I couldn't get into it but I'll give it another look.
Thanks for the Dobermann. That looks like my cup of tea.

Hanna is in my recently seen batch of movies so I haven't yet categorized it so I forgot to list it. Loved that movie. Saoirse Ronan, the sky's the limit. She will be a super star.
