I would kinda consider Jurassic Park to be a Indiana Jones type but without the gun, there's another book kinda like that called Cretaceous Dawn, main difference is that in Cretaceous Dawn they go back in time instead of to a island.

I don't read much but Dan Brown's Robert Langdon books remind me of Indiana Jones.
