Romance Film

The questions I pose to you, my fellow MoFo, are:

1. What makes a good romance movie?
2. What are some of your personal favorite romance movies?
3. What are some of the best and most cliche romance lines?
1. originality and surprise get a lot of points from me. other than that what makes something romantic? honesty? beauty helps but too much excess or cleverness and the movie becomes seductive rather than romantic... which isn't a bad thing but you asked about romance.

2. no. 1 on my list is... David Cronenberg's The Fly.

3. don't have any memorized.

Is that the half of the high school class that can get pregnant? Or half of the high school class?

Sometimes seems today like it's the whole female half of the school. Of course it starts with irresponsible males, so there's plenty of blame to go around.

Sorry Harmonica.......I got to stay here.

Valley Girl was a cute young-love romance. Not an epic grand romance or anything like that, but something very sweet about that movie. Nicolas Cage basically plays a potato, but does it well. Brings back syrupy HS memories when I was a young spud.

My answers for your questions :

1. What makes a good romance movie?
LOVE

2. What are some of your personal favorite romance movies?
Titatic
Gone With the Wind
The Way We Were
And many more...
3. What are some of the best and most cliche romance lines?

Shakespeare In Love

  • "I will have poetry in my life. And adventure. And love. Love above all. No...not the artful postures of love, not playful and poetical games of love for the amusement of an evening. but love that...overthrows life. Unbiddable, ungovernable, like a riot in the heart, and nothing to be done, come ruin or rapture."
  • "Love denied blights the soul we owe to God."
  • "If I could measure the beauty of her eyes, I was born to look into them and know myself."
