I think wrong guesses should get neg-rep, just to make it fun.

Answer: Dennis Quaid has never been nominated for an Oscar. Nor, really, should he have been. Well, maybe his Doc Holliday in Wyatt Earp, but the overall movie wasn't very good and besides that it was a crowded year for Supporting Actor (Martin Landau in Ed Wood who won plus Gary Sinise in Forest Gump, Paul Scofield in Quiz Show, Sam Jackson for Pulp Fiction and Chazz Palminteri for Bullets Over Broadway). And maybe for The Right Stuff, but his co-star Sam Shepard got the nod and co-stars Ed Harris and Fred Ward probably had just as good a shot at a nomination as Quaid. And I can see an argument for Breaking Away, but there Paul Dooley was the real stand-out and even he didn't get a nomination (though Barbara Barrie did).

Somehow his work in Jaws 3-D, Caveman, Dreamscape, The Day After Tomorrow, Frequency and Dragonheart was snubbed by the stuffy Academy.

Now Dennis' big brother, Randy Quaid, he does have an Oscar nomination in his career: no, not as Cousin Eddie but for playing the young Navy prisoner being transported by Nicholson and Otis Young in Hal Ashby's The Last Detail.

Answer: Dennis Quaid has never been nominated for an Oscar.

NICELY DONE

next question: Oscar winning cinematographer Robert Elswit won this year for There Will Be Blood, but he also did the cinematography for another 2007 best picture Oscar nominee, what was that movie?

Michael Clayton

NEXT QUESTION:

I know of at least three movies that have the hit '60s song "Wooly Bully" by Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs not just on their soundtracks but under the opening credits. Give me at least two of them. HINT: Two were released in the 1980s, one in the early 1990s.

Will your system be alright, when you dream of home tonight?
I only know one...

Will your system be alright, when you dream of home tonight?
Sure, the easy one there, Madison. That's why I require at least two.
Is Madison a movie?

well then it was used in a Alvin and the Chipmunks movie (not the 2007 one)

If I had to make a guess at witch one, The Chipmunk Adventure

Is Madison a movie?

well then it was used in Alvin and the Chipmunks
I haven't seen The Chipmunk Adventure (thank Jeebus), but is it used under the opening credits there? And even if it is in the flick, it's probably performed by said Chipmunks and not Sam the Sham, no?

Anyway, incorrect guess. 7thson should be negative-repping you as we type. Does this mean instead of knowing one of the three you know none of the three? In that case the "Madison" is another hint (and it goes well with lobster).

2. American Graffiti 2

+ Rep appreciated

I was thinking More A.G. and Full Metal Jacket, but then I read the question again and say More A.G. and Valerie, probably wrong but I will take the neg rep - hit me..but only one person please.

Mark knows More American Graffiti better than I do and I don't own a copy to check, but while I know "Wooly Bully" is in the film I don't remember it being the opening credit sequence. It may be, that's why I phrased my question as "at least three", since I couldn't recall.

I'll end your misery since I went and asked a question that couldn't just be Googled or instantly looked up on the IMDb unlike all of Lennon's wonderful posers. The three films I was going for were...

Baby It's You (1983 - John Sayles)
Splash (1984 - Ron Howard)
Night and the City (1992 - Irwin Winkler)

*by the by, "Madison" is the English name Daryl Hannah's mermaid adopts in Splash. Geesh.

What happened to Fast Times at Ridgemont High?

It's been forever since I've seen this, but to the best of my memory, it is played while they get ready for prom, and/or during the ending credits. Not during the opening credits. I think that's what he asked for.

so, from now on the person with the right answer asks the next question?
