older japanese(?) movie; can't remember the name

ok, I feel like a nub, but a friend of mine a couple years or so ago had me watch this movie.. in Japanese(?) with subtitles..

about a class of kids who are picked to play this huge game where they have to kill each other yadda yadda yadda

only one can live, yadda yadda yadda..

anyway, if anyone could help me out with the name of it, I'd appreciate it greatly
